The City of Stirling is a very progressive council and possibly the largest one in Perth. They always have some excellent programs for ratepayers and these are for adults, children and seniors. However, these generally have limited places and therefore must be booked as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

[b]CRAFTERNOONS[/b]
You can get social and crafty at one of these friendly craft groups. Whether it's knitting, crochet, sewing, or drawing, the sessions are a great way to meet new people while you work on your favourite project.

It is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and craft interests, and you just need to bring your craft along plus a gold coin donation for a cup of tea or coffee.

Sessions are held from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm on Tuesdays at the Osborne Activity Centre, 11 Royal Street, Tuart Hill, and on Thursdays at the Nollamara Community Centre, 72 Sylvia Street, Nollamara.



[b]YOGA[/b]
Thursday night is yoga night at the Stirling Leisure Centre, Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Mirrabooka. The centre now has a weekly 90-minute session with qualified instructors from 6.30 pm each Thursday. Cost is $12.00 per session and it is suitable for all levels. From 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm

There is also a beginners yoga which teaches techniques, including posture, strength and movement, breath awareness, relaxation, concentration and meditation. This one is held on Mondays from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm.

[b]BETTER HEALTH PROGRAM[/b]
The Better Health Program is a FREE 10-week multi-component healthy lifestyle program. It is for children aged 7-13 years who are above a healthy weight, and their families.

This program was developed by specialist dietitians and psychologists and it supports children and families to have a healthy lifestyle including healthy eating and regular physical activity. Children and their families become fitter, healthier and happier as they have fun, make new friends and learn new techniques to establish and maintain healthier lifestyles. It is funded by the Department of Health.

[b]WATERWISE GARDENING WORKSHOP[/b]
Have you ever wanted to have a garden that is water-wise? If so, this is just the course for you. You will learn how to create a water-wise garden in your own home! This workshop will be led by the Water Corporation and it includes practical information about which soils are correct and which mulch and water-wise plants to use.

[b]HER GAME: MULTICULTURAL FEMALE ONLY VOLLEYBALL[/b]
This is run by VolleyballWA coaches and is on every Sunday, this program is aimed at encouraging new and emerging communities to start playing volleyball. Entry is $2 per person and there is no need to book.

It is for ages 12 years to adult.

[b]BE CONNECTED - COMPUTER BASICS[/b]
Do you think you need to learn more about computers? Do you want to be computer literate and keep up with the changing world? Technology has a lot to offer to Australian seniors, whether it be for keeping in touch with relatives, managing your finances or even offering entertainment.

Be Connected, through Stirling Libraries and Fire Tech, offers a number of short workshops aimed at improving technology skills to older Australians. This is an hour-long workshop, where you will learn about the basics of computers.

This will be held on Monday 10th December 2018, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

[b]SANTA STORYTIME @ STIRLING LIBRARIES[/b]
Santa's magical Elf is here to get children both young and old into the Christmas Spirit with stories and songs. If you hear the sound of reindeer hooves on the ceiling this can only mean one thing, and when Santa does arrive, then the party can really get started!

This event is free and bookings are essential. Please note, Adults do not need to book.

[b]CHRISTMAS MOVIE NIGHT[/b]
For this event, why not dress up in a Christmas costume and join in for a Christmas movie at Mirrabooka Library on Wednesday, 19th December at 5:00 pm. They will be showing a children's PG-rated movie so bring along the family and your beanbags/pillows/blankets and be ready for a fun-filled magical evening. There will be a prize for the best-dressed and you can bring snacks and drinks.
