The Central Coast New South Wales is home to an array of walks, including coastal, National Park, garden, bushland and seaside walks, making it the perfect place to explore its beauty on foot!

The list below features the top suited for all ages and fitness levels, including family-friendly walks:

1. Bouddi National Park

Home to 3,706 acres (1,500 hectares) of stunning nature which extends from Bouddi Peninsula to Macmasters Beach, you will find plenty of coastal and lush rainforest walks, including majestic 8.5km (one way) Bouddi Coastal Walk .

Walks include:

  • Maitland Bay Track

  • Box Head Track

  • Bullimah Spur Track

  • Flannel Flower Walking Track

  • Daleys Point Walking Track

  • Mount Bouddi Walking Track



  • 2. Brisbane Water National Park

    Brisbane Waters National Park covers a stunning 29,693 acres (12,000 hectares) of rainforest, bushland, waterfalls, Aboriginal art, lookouts, and of course, walks.

    Walks include:

  • Somersby Falls Walking Track

  • Piles Creek Loop

  • Wondabyne to Patonga Walking Track

  • Mooney Mooney Nature Walk

  • Patonga to Pearl Beach Walking Track

  • Girrakool Walking Loop

  • Great North Walk



  • 3. Wyrrabalong National Park

    This tiny National Park might be small, but it offers the beautiful The Coast Walking Track which starts from the breathtaking Crackneck Lookout, and two other walks the Lillypilly Loop Trail and Red Gum Trail.



    4. Strickland State Forest

    Home to an impressive variety of flora and fauna species, 350 plants, 95 birds, 29 reptiles, 27 mammals, 20 amphibians and four fish species, making a visit to Strickland State Forest a memorable experience.

    There are also extensive walking tracks passing various forest types including waterfalls, cabbage tree palms, creeks, and more.

    5. The Tony Sheridan Walk (The Entrance)
    Located on the stunning marina at The Entrance, The Tony Sheridan Walk is an easy family-friendly sealed waterfront boardwalk that passes impressive marina views.



    6. Coast to Lake Walk (The Entrance)

    This walk takes you around The Entrance and surrounding areas, passing landmarks, attractions and spectacular scenery. The walk begins at Memorial Park and follows the boardwalk along the coastline to The Entrance Surf Life Saving Club before continuing to Toowoon Bay Surf Club.

    From the Surf Club, wander through the suburbs to Long Jetty following the pathway along the Tuggerah Lake to Picnic Point, before heading back passing restaurants at The Entrance then finishing back at Memorial Park.

    7. Sensory Gardens Walk

    Located at The Entrance, the Sensory Gardens is home to native plants and trees, a viewing platform that overlooks the beautiful Tuggerah Lakes, bridges, seating, and paved pathways. The easy leisurely walk winds its way through beautiful trees and plants, and the special feature is the sensory aspect where you can feel, touch and smell the many aromas and textures of the Australia bush.

    8. Tuggerah Lake Walkway (Cycleway)

    This coastal walk (cycle) is a family-friendly track is 24km return 'Looping the Lake' experience. The walk takes you around Tuggerah Lake and continues around passing wetlands, parks, and jetties galore.

    9. Headland Nature Trail

    This moderate 2.2km walk takes in some of the most beautiful native flora and fauna, as well as striking views. The Headland Nature Trail passes Norah Head Lighthouse, secluded beauty of Nimbin and Lighthouse beaches, an impressive memorial to the merchant navy, stunning coastline views, and The Rockpool.

    10. Terrigal Lagoon to The Skillion

    This 2km return walk passes beaches, bustling cafes, and spectacular lookouts. It starts at Terrigal Lagoon and makes its way along the waterfront and Terrigal Beach, before climbing up to one of the most iconic lookouts on the Central Coast- The Skillion.

    11. Saltwater Creek Boardwalk

    This beautiful and tranquil Boardwalk was built to help prevent the destruction of the saltmarsh communities that are found in the region.

    The Boardwalk connects The Entrance to Chittaway Bay Walking Track and showcases amazing scenery.
