Sixteen Top Breweries on the Sunshine Coast

Support ye local brewer! And, throughout the Sunshine Coast region, beer gurus have sixteen good reasons to support a local brewer. To help liquid gold lovers with brewery adventuring, here's a quick guide, in alphabetical order, to taking the first 'hops' into discovering the Sunshine Coast's top breweries and enjoying a couple of cold frosties along the way.

🍺 1. Blackflag Brewing
3/13 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba

Open Tuesdays and Fridays, 4.00pm to midnight | Open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 12.00noon to midnight



Down an alleyway, off Brisbane Road in Mooloolaba, beer lovers will find the Blackflag Brewing Glory Hole shed. Offering t-shirts, growler fills, tins and all things brew, holidaymakers and locals are all welcome to visit the quirky and unique Blackflag Brewing.

Bonsai Brewhouse is a small scale, rustic-style brewhouse and beer garden in Cooran, specialising in their own craft beer.

🍺 3. Brouhaha Brewery

Brouhaha Brewery is a boutique brewery tucked away neatly in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Maleny. Founded by locals for locals, Brouhaha Brewery are committed to delivering premium craft beer, quality food using fresh, locally sourced produce and high levels of personalised service. Brouhaha's mission is to educate the community in the art that is craft beer.

Copperhead Restaurant Brewery in Cooroy is part of the new wave of Brew Pubs - a brewery with a focus on quality food and beer made solely for drinking by visitors to their premises. With an ever-changing stable of beers, Copperhead beers are 100% pure and unfiltered and can only be purchased at the Copperhead Restaurant Brewery.

First opened in 1988, the Eumundi Brewery was one of Australia's first modern microbreweries. The brewery, based in the Imperial Hotel in Eumundi, was famous for its Eumundi Lager. The original brewery closed down in the 1990s.

Dr. Chuck Hahn, one of Australia's most well-known master brewers, together with Head Brewer Chris Sheehan and supported by a bunch of hinterland locals, have steered the Eumundi Brewery's revival, bringing it back to life at the Imperial Hotel in Eumundi. Brewed onsite in the home of the original Eumundi Brewery, the new Eumundi Brewery's first beers are a reinvented Eumundi Brewery Lager and a mid-strength Eumundi Brewery Pale Ale.



Eumundi Brewery beers are crafted using quality ingredients and are perfect for enjoying in the Queensland climate. When visiting, why not book in for a fifteen to twenty minute Eumundi Brewery Tour and Taste - there will be a bit of history, a bit of brewing and the best bit? Tasting of one of the freshest beers you will ever drink.

Eumundi Brewery are also hosting the Eumundi Backyard, a beer garden with a shipping container bar, at the brand new NightQuarter entertainment centre on the Sunshine Coast. Visitors will enjoy locally crafted and seasonal beers, picnic tables, live music and slow-cooked barbecue meats.

Glass House Brewery has a clean-cut, inviting ambience, that serves well with their fabulous craft beers on offer, the divinely delicious food and of course, the great company you opt to accompany you on your visit. They have great dining deals for families, with Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays from 5.00pm (available with the purchase of any main meal or pizza) and on Sundays, a variety of slow-cooked Sunday Roasts, which pair perfectly with any schooner of Glass House Brewery beer. 🍺 7. Habitat Noosa Eco Brewing Co

According to microbrewery, Habitat Noosa Eco Brewing Co, the one ingredient in the taste of beer that should not make a difference, is the one that really does matter - 'it's the water!' Having said that, Habitat Eco Brewing Co, source their beer-making water from the great sandy mass aquifer - water that filters through sand and gravel for more than 75 years before being used at their microbrewery. Visitors can enjoy fresh, world-class 100% beer that is free of preservatives, additives and flavours.

🍺 8. Heads of Noosa Brewing Co and Taproom

The Taproom is currently open on Mondays and Tuesdays for retail only | Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11.30am to 6.00pm |Fridays between 11.30am and 8.00pm.



Founded by two brothers, Heads of Noosa Brewing Co is an independently owned craft brewery located in stunning Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Heads of Noosa's beers are inspired by the rocky headlands of Noosa Heads - east facing, the Heads stand upright to the full force of Mother Nature and the swell of the Pacific Ocean. This family-oriented brewery's nature and passion is to craft raw natural ingredients into some of Australia's finest beers that can be enjoyed time after time.



In addition to the production side of the brewing operation, Heads of Noosa have an adjoining Taproom where beers are served on tap as well as for takeaway. The onsite kitchen keeps visitors happy with a menu designed around the brewery. The Taproom is the place to visit to sample Heads of Noosa's craft beers.

Land & Sea Brewery create beer and food that is inspired by and compliments their location in Noosa. I've always loved Moffat Beach Brewing Co's slogan: 'We can't brew it any closer to the taps!' and with an enviable location close enough to the beach that you can almost smell the ocean, this accoladed Champion Small Brewery at the Indies, is well worth a visit for their award-winning beers and a behind-the-scenes tour. Moffat Beach Brewing Co have a creative kitchen producing an appetising breakfast and lunch menu, with talented local musicians providing the live entertainment 'Between the Tanks'.

Moffat Beach Brewing Co caters to walk-in trade only, but due to their capacity being restricted to a maximum of fifty visitors at any one time, guests are asked to please be understanding of this rule.

🍺 11. O-Ren Brewhouse and Modern Asian Restaurant

From the creators of Copperhead Restaurant Brewery (see No. 4 above), O-Ren Brewhouse and Modern Asian Restaurant is one of Noosa's newest venues. Located in the heart of Hastings Street, O'Ren serves up a fusion of funky cocktails, craft beers and modern Asian style cuisine.

Since opening in May 2017, Sunshine Brewery have created fifty-seven different beers - some are on the regular offerings, others are seasonal and/or limited editions. Check out what's 'Currently on Tap' here.



The brainchild of a surfing skeg¹ who loves beer and an adrenaline junkie who loves the business side, good food and adventurous living, Sunshine Brewery was born. Sunshine Brewery are passionate about good fresh beer made with love and products, directly traceable to the people who grew them.

Sunshine Brewery is open for wholesale supply and tasting cellar door from Wednesdays to Sundays, with food vans on site Thursdays and Fridays and sometimes over weekends too.



On the first Friday of every month, visitors to Sunshine Brewery can enjoy a slow-smoked barbecue for lunch and dinner between midday and 7.00pm. Check out the 'Events Link' here for what's happening and when.

🍺 14. 10 Toes Brewery

Founded in an industrial shed near the beach in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, the 10 Toes Brewery founders declare themselves to be 'self-proclaimed ratbags with good hearts making great beers'. These very adventurous 'ratbags' broke free from their former lives and corporate shackles to go walkabout and play by their own rules or at least to bend them a little. 10 Toes Brewery believe 'embrace your community, live life to the fullest and consume with gusto!'

Open for tastings from Wednesdays to Sundays, with food trucks on specific days, why not grab a buddy or three and 'drop on in' to 10 Toes, another great reason to live on the Sunshine Coast.

🍺 15. Terrella Brewing
196 Bunya Road, North Arm

Terrella means 'little earth' and Terrella Brewing is building their very own dream brewery vision, gaining inspiration from science, a serious love of beer and a connection to the land. Terrella Brewing have custom-designed their brewery and equipment to suit their style of beers, drawing insight from traditional German methods of brewing, producing a creamy, frothy head and a full-flavoured but well-balanced beer.

Terrella Brewing's rural location lends itself perfectly to enjoying a relaxing beer with plenty of grassy space and even farm animals to keep the children entertained. Farmyard opening hours are Saturday and Sunday between 9.00am and 11.30am. Dogs on a leash are welcome too.

Your Mates Brewing Co's vision is simple - they believe in mateship, inclusiveness and sustainability, all core values which have guided founders Hep and McGarry's inspirational beer-making journey. Read their fascinating story here.

In the past twelve months, Your Mates Brewing Co has worked with more than fourteen charities and community groups and have raised over $25,000. Your Mates have ten simple commandments on their website, which I thought were humorous, endearing and worth a share -






Life certainly doesn't get better than having a cold one with mates or colleagues at the local pub.
