Ballarat has declared Spring 'A Season of the Arts' and there are many great arts exhibits to view in September, with international, national, and local shows not to be missed.
The Biennale of Australian Art will be held next year, and a launch event called 'What's in the Box' will include over 70 small scale artworks. This event will be held on September 28th 2017 from 6-10pm at the Ballarat Trades Hall at 24 Camp Street Ballarat. The full range of artists exhibiting at the Biennale will also be announced and some works are for sale in advance.
The 12th Ballarat International Foto Biennale features over 100 exhibitions across the month. The signature exhibit is David LaChapelle's masterworks of celebrities in luxurious settings, captured in a hyper-realistic style, at The Art Gallery of Ballarat. Famous faces include Whitney Houston, Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, and other stars who have graced magazine covers. The biennale also includes a large range of talks, workshops, and education programs; with a large number of other cafes and wine bars supporting the events.

A third and fascinating exhibit in Ballarat this September is 'Force of Nature' by Australian artist Tamara Dean. This exhibit explores the nature of youth through large scale photographic works, and is on until September 17th, at The Lost Ones Contemporary Art Gallery at 14 Camp Street Ballarat.
Ballarat also has a range of great cafes and historic pubs, so why not make a day of it, and enjoy a beverage or meal after your tour of the galleries and shows this Spring.
