Brisbane and surrounds will be farewelling the last of this winter season with a massive month of many fun and exciting events to keep everyone entertained this August.

The list below features Free & Ticketed Events for all ages and interests to enjoy:

1. City Sounds
When: 1-31 August 2018
Where: Various locations across Brisbane
Cost: Free
Details: City Sounds is Australia's largest free live music event and it features local and touring bands and artists performing a wide range of music genres including alternative folk, jazz, electro, rap, soul, blues, pop and more. Click here for the website.



2. Letters to Lindy Performance
When: 1-4 August 2018: From 7:30pm
Where: Brisbane Powerhouse, 119 Lamington St, New Farm
Cost: Adults: $45pp, Concession: $36pp & Students: $25pp
Details: Filled with humour and heartbreak, this stunning work by award-winning playwright Alana Valentine explores the public's relationship with Australia's most iconic figures, Lindy Chamberlain. The story captivated the nation. A mother accused of murdering her child, her claim- that a dingo took her baby. Over the decades, from baby Azaria's death to the final coroner's report, the public wrote more than 20,000 letters to Lindy Chamberlain. From sympathy to abuse. Click here for the website.



3. Kids Collective

Where: South Bank and Roma Street Parklands
Cost: Free
Details: This event is a series of outdoor classes and workshops held at South Bank and Roma Street Parklands and features activities including gardening, music, sport, science, art & craft and more for children aged between 5-12 years during school holidays and the South Bank program for kids aged 0-5 years old every Thursday 9am-1pm. 4. Acoustic Guitar Spectacular
When: 2 August 2018: 7:30pm-9:30pm

Details: This performance will be by Red Chair and it will feature a hand-picked group of internationally recognised acoustic guitarists from across the globe to join forces to weave memorable musical magic. 5. Secret Supper
When: 2 August 2018: From 7pm
Where: A secret location (revealed 48hrs before supper)
Cost: $65pp- 5-course dinner.
Details: Experience a different dining experience set at a secret location! This dining event is held at secret locations around Brisbane and lucky diners can snatch up a seat to these dinners with 5-course feasts. 6. Bender in the Grass
When: 3 August 2018: From 4pm
Where: The Grove Sports and Community Club, 20 Tramway St, Ferny Grove
Cost: Free entry.

7. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
When: 3 August 2018: From 12 noon
Where: Lyric Theatre, Queen Street Mall, Brisbane City

8. Greazefest
When: 3-5 August 2018: 3rd: 7pm-Midnight, 4th: 10am-10pm & 5th: 9am-6pm
Where: Redlands Showgrounds, Cnr Smith & Long Streets, Cleveland
Cost: Tickets range from $5-$80pp
Details: This festival is the utmost kustom kulture event in the Southern Hemisphere and will feature all things hot rods with events, cool cars, rockabilly bands, DJ's, fashion parades, workshops, tattoos, pinstripers, market stalls, pinups, vintage bikes, lowrider cycles, art shows, competitions and much more. 9. Von Hot Rod Pinstripe Workshop
When: 4 August 2018: 9am-12pm
Where: Redland Showgrounds, Cnr Smith & Long Streets, Cleveland
Cost: $170pp
Details: This adults-only workshop event will feature world-renowned pinstriper, Von Hot Red and the event will include a meet & greet and hands-on workshop about hot rods and racing cars. Bring along shelf ornaments, tool boxes, bowling pins, instruments, wallets and shoes. The workshop will cover many aspects of the art including paints, brushes, types of lines and designs. 10. Parks Alive

Where: Roma Street Parklands, Parkland Boulevard, Brisbane City

Details: This family-friendly fun-filled day will feature all things fun and entertaining with a jam-packed program of entertainment, activities, games, guided Parkland walks, demonstrations, live music, gourmet food stalls & trucks, yoga session, market stalls, and more. 11. Dining with 1,000 Candles
When: 4 August 2018: From 6pm.
Where: Eagle Farm Racecourse, 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot
Cost: $155pp
Details: This event will feature a magical candlelit wonderland dinner with hundreds of candles lit, fine dining and spellbinding entertainment. There will also be warm spiced wine, free-flowing beverages and a bespoke menu showcasing South East Queensland finest seasonal food. This is an 18yrs plus event only. 12. Brisbane Marathon Festival
When: 5 August 2018: 6am-12 noon

Cost: Fundraising event- 2km Mini Marathon: $30pp, 5km: $50pp, 10km: $60pp & Half Marathon: $100pp
Details: Be part of Australia's oldest running events. This fundraising festival will take you along the riverfront over bridges and past some of the city's most enchanting landmarks. The race precinct will feature entertainment, food and drink trucks/ stalls. Click here for the website.



13. Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts

Where: Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide St, Brisbane City
Cost: Free
Details: The concert events will feature performances including 1971 which explores a year in music that continues to weave its soulful tapestry throughout our 21st-century lives, the Organ Concert-Andrej Kouznetsov - multiple award-winning organist - will be performing an eclectic concert featuring works from both English and French composers from the 19th and 20th centuries. 14. Which Way Home Play

Details: This play is based on Tash and her Dad going on a road trip back home. Home to the country, where the sky is higher, and the world goes on forever. It is a story written by writer Katie Beckett's own memories of growing up with her single Aboriginal father. Click here for the website.
