The Southern Highlands certainly make you feel that you are a world away, with unspoilt natural beauty to historic sites, there is something for all interests and ages to enjoy.



Located midway between Sydney and Canberra, the Southern Highlands are known for cool temperate climate and low humidity levels, making it the perfect place to take your next escape or day trip.

They offer an abundance of attractions to enjoy from national parks, waterfalls, quaint and historic villages, adventure, natural and historic attractions.



The list below features top attractions across the Southern Highlands:

1. Waterfalls
The waterfalls at Southern Highlands offer a spectacular point of interest with plunging cascades, swimming waterholes, bushwalks and lookouts. A few waterfalls that are a must see include Nellies Glen at Budderoo National Park, which offers a spectacular lookout of lush rainforest as you stand underneath the stunning waterfall. Belmore Falls features no shortage of lookouts and there is a worn out path leading to the bottom of the falls if you dare!
Fitzroy Falls is no doubt a thrilling experience with its 80 metres plunge to the awe-inspiring bushwalking trails and breathtaking views of the valleys. This is one not to miss. While, Carrington Falls offers 50 metres of plunging cascade to the gully below, with spectacular swimming holes, rock pools and stunning lookouts.



2. Pick Your Own Produce
For something a little different, this attraction gives you an opportunity to experience the real Southern Highlands! There are many farms and orchids that call the Southern Highlands home and some even open to the public to allow 'pick your own' or purchase fresh produce from road stalls. Some include Montrose Berry Farm, Moira's Paradise (organic blueberries & raspberries), Highlands Gourmet Potatoes, and plenty more.



3. Discover Caves

4. Museums & Galleries
Learn about the rich history at The Berrima District Historical Society Museum, where it is housed in a historic weatherboard cottage and showcases an array of artefacts from the Southern Highlands. If you are a cricket enthusiast then a visit to the Bradman Museum & International Cricket Hall of Fame is a must. The Museum is named after Sir Donald Bradman, a cricketing legend with the best batting average in sports history! The museum features exhibits, history and statistics, interactive touch screens, audiovisual exhibits and much more.
For all the train fans out there, a visit to the Braemar Model Railways will certainly impress with the displays on offer.
If you are into galleries, then the Bay Tree Gallery is the perfect spot to explore the two gallery areas with the exhibits of works by many local and featured artists, including paintings, pottery, figurines, woodwork, jewellery and photography. The Foyer Gallery is committed to representation from artists who live in the local Wingecarribee area and the fostering cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural practices that reflect the dynamism and diversity of culture in the Wingecarribee. The Berrima District Art Society was founded in 1950 and it features a range of work by Australian contemporary artists including prominent Indigenous artists, paintings, drawings, sculptures, artefacts, and limited edition works.
Gallery Ecosse is a great gallery to explore the exhibitions of diverse works from both Australian and international artists.
