Tasmania often gets overlooked for other popular Australian cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. Even though the city is quite small, the city and its neighbouring suburbs boast some stunning scenery. Here are a few places that you should consider passing through when visiting the city of Hobart.

Mt Wellington

It goes without saying that you should try to visit the top of Mt Wellington. It's only 30 minutes away from Hobart city and offers a stunning view of the city, the landscape and the sea.

Tasman Bridge

If you are a photographer or Instagrammer, then the Tasman Bridge will provide you with some stunning photography images. Try to visit the bridge by night or during twilight hours. The bridge is located towards the outskirts of the city.

Freycinet National Park

The park is located just shy of 3 hours north of Hobart, but the beach offers stunning white sandy beaches on the blue backdrop of the ocean. If you love the sea and coastal driving, hire a car or a campervan and venture northbound for a day trip. More information about the park is located here.

Lavender farm

Just over an hour's drive from Hobart in Port Arthur, you can visit the Lavender Farm which is another perfect spot for photographers and Instagrammers to visit. There are plenty of other historical landmarks that can also be visited nearby. You can see more about the farm here.

Don't dismiss the southern state of Australia and its capital city. Despite it seeming remote, there are plenty of options to see amazing landmarks close to the capital city. If you are bold enough, you can venture further and see many more amazing landmarks around the state.
