The list below features free and ticketed entry Museums across Adelaide. There is a museum for all interests from transport to archaeology.

1. The National Railway Museum
Where: 76 Lipson St, Port Adelaide
When: Daily, 10am-4:30pm- Closed Christmas Day & ANZAC Day
Cost: Adults: $12pp, Concession: $9pp, Children (3-5yrs): $6pp and Family (2 adults & up to 3 children): $32

2. South Australian Museum
Where: North Terrace, Adelaide
When: Daily, 10am-4:45pm- Closed Good Friday & Christmas Day – open from 12 noon on ANZAC Day.
Cost: Free
Details: The South Australian Museum has been committed to making Australia's natural and cultural heritage accessible, engaging and fun for over 150 years! The museum features collections of national and international significance, Aboriginal heritage and scientific research through exhibits, interactive displays, The Discovery Centre, guided and self-guided tours and more. 3. National Motor Museum
Where: Shannon St, Birdwood
When:Daily, 10am-5pm- Closed Christmas Day
Cost: Adults: $15.50pp, Concession: $12.50pp, Children: $6.50pp & Family (2 adults and up to 6 children): $35
Details: The museum features contemporary exhibition halls showing stories of people and vehicles that have shaped Australia's motoring history. 4. The Migration Museum
Where:82 Kintore Ave, Adelaide
When: Daily, 10am-5pm –Closed Christmas Day
Cost: Free
Details: The museum works towards the preservation, understanding and enjoyment of South Australia's diverse cultures. In 1986, the Migration Museum in Adelaide was a world first and today it showcases exhibits and documents. Click here for the website.



5. Ayers House Museum
Where: 288 North Terrace, Adelaide
When: Tuesday-Sunday: 10am-4pm – Closed Mondays
Cost: Adults: $10pp, Concession: $8pp, Children (5-15yrs): $5pp & Family (2 adults 2 children):$30
Details: Ayers House is not only the last surviving mansion of its era on the southern side of North Terrace but also interprets the life of an upper middle-class family of the 19th century. It was home of Sir Henry Ayers from 1855 to 1897 and this spectacular property has been restored to its former opulence and is open to the public. There are guided tours, self-guided tours, exhibits, special events, displays featuring exquisite painted decorations and fine collections. Click here for the website.



6. The Police Museum
Where: Cnr of Gaol & Port Roads, Adelaide

Cost: $5pp entry fee
Details: South Australia was colonised in 1836, unlike other states, it was not a penal settlement and migrants were 'free settlers'. The Museum showcases the history of policing in South Australia through collections with over 600,000 documents, artefacts, memorabilia, photographs, exhibits and other displays. 7. Museum of Classical Archaeology
Where: Basement of the Mitchell Building on the North Terrace Campus, Adelaide.
When: First Tuesday of the Month (Excluding December & January)- 11am-3pm
Cost: Free
Details: The Museum features the largest collection of artefacts from Ancient Greece and Rome on display in South Australia. It showcases a collection of teaching, displays and exhibits including glass, pottery and metalware from Minoan Crete to Hellenistic Greek cities in Southern Italy; from Etruscan Italy to Roman provinces of Britain, Gaul and Egypt. 8. The South Australian Aviation Museum
Where: 66 Lipson St, Port Adelaide
When: Daily, 10:30am-4:30pm- Closed Christmas Day
Cost: Adults: $10pp, Concession: $8pp, Children under 16yrs: $5pp, Children under 5yrs free & Family (2 adults & up to 3 children: $25
Details: In 1984, a group of people interested in aviation and the restoration of aircraft founded the museum, and today the museum features history of aviation through the years, exhibits featuring aircrafts, engines, propellers, historic displays, memorabilia, guided tours, self-guided tours, library, interactive and hands-on displays and more. 9. Santos Museum of Economic Botany
Where: North Terrace, Adelaide
When: Wednesday- Sunday: 10am-4pm
Cost: Free
Details: Step back in time to 1881 and discover the importance of plants in our lives from the past, present and future at this one of its kind in the world museum. It is home to spectacular permanent exhibitions which date back to the original museum display 130 years ago. There are touring exhibitions too. Click here for the website.



10. The Bradman Collection
Where: North Terrace, Adelaide
When: Monday-Sunday: 9am-4pm- Closed Public Holidays & Event Holidays

Details: The Bradman Collection is on loan from the State Library of South Australia and is on display at the newly developed Adelaide Oval. The museum features the Sir Donald Bradman collection, who was the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. The museum features a personal collection of cricket memorabilia spanning from 1927 to 1977, theatrette, interactive exhibitions and much more. Click here for the website.
