Time to put WA's top 50 wines to the test
It will be hard to find a better way to get a sense of what's hot in WA wine than with a stand-up lunch to celebrate the best from the Wine Show of Western Australia.
The Wine Show of WA's Top 50 lunch will be held at Il Lido in Cottesloe on October 20 from 1pm.

To be hosted by sommelier Daniel Wegener, a long-time supporter of the show and three-time judge, tickets will cost $80.
Daniel says it will be the "funnest" wine event of the year and a great way to spend a Friday afternoon off work. "We're unleashing the best of the best of WA's wine for a crowd of enthusiasts and providing Perth's wine influencers as tour guides," he says. "Ride the buzz and taste a room full to the brim with the stars of Australia's hottest wine state."
The event will be a generous stand-up cocktail styled lunch from Il Lido Italian Canteen's kitchen. "After having judged the Wine Show of WA three times I see the integrity behind the Top 50 tasting, it's legit," Daniel says.
Of the more than 1000 entries the show gets in a year, the top 50 is a distilled version of what's hot in West Australian wine for the year. Daniel says the event is a must for Perth wine aficionados, offering a great opportunity to taste, compare and discuss the show's top 50 medal-winning wines.
The menu will begin with oysters and Riesling. There will then be grazing plates of the antipasti, pasta and cheeses Il Lido is known for.
The lunch is part of the Wine Show of Western Australia, which began in 1978 as part of the Mount Barker and Districts Agricultural Show and has now grown to become a separate annual event in its own right, each year determining the best of WA wines.
From just six classes in 1978, the show has grown to 43 classes with 21 trophies including the prestigious Singapore Airlines Trophy for Best Wine of Show awarded in 2016.
