The whale watching season in NSW is from 1 June to 30 November, and if you have not tried it yet this year, you still have plenty of time if you want to give it a go.

According to whale watching website wildaboutwhales.com.au , there are many great vantage points along the coasts of NSW to watch these gentle sea giants migrate north or south.

Sydney Harbour National Park
On top of the list is the Sydney Harbour National Park . Travel writer Annie Dang of the Sydney Morning Herald wrote that the Top 5 vantage points for whale watching at Sydney Harbour National Park are: North Head lookout, the historic Hornby Lighthouse, the Arabanoo lookout, the South Head and the Shark Island.



Barrenjoey Lighthouse
The Barrenjoey Lighthouse headland in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park offers spectacular views. It is a short trek up from Palm Beach of the soap opera Home and Away fame.

Cape Solander
Cape Solander is in Kamay Botany Bay National Park south of Sydney, which is another excellent spot to watch the migration of majestic whales.

Royal National Park
Heritage-listed Royal National Park near Cronulla south of Sydney boasts of towering sandstone cliffs along the Coast Track which has countless spots to stop and look out for whales passing by.



Wyrrabalong National Park and Bouddi National Park
The Wyrrabalong National Park and Bouddi National Park near Gosford on the Central Coast are also great spots not just for whale watching, but also for a quiet moment with nature.
