You know that it's possible to sometimes actually spot celebrities in New York, but even if you don't see one in real life, there are other ways for TV or movie buffs who are visiting New York to enjoy their hobby.
1. Sony IMAX (Times Square)
The Sony IMAX theatre in Times Square is the best spot to catch a 3-D or 3-D IMAX movie. If you go to the matinees, the crowds are usually smaller, and you usually don't have to worry about finding age-appropriate viewings that the whole family can enjoy.
Broadway always gives you a chance to see celebrities from TVs and movies that are currently starring in different products. You can catch such shows as "Pee Wee Herman on Broadway", which brings back characters, including the bow-tied fellow himself, from the old "Pee Wee's Playhouse" that was once aired on TV.
3. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum
If you want to get "up close and personal"—well, as best as you can depending on how the displays are roped off—with celebrities, you can visit Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Here you'll see such stars as Robert Pattinson and Justin Bieber, just to name a couple of the most recent ones, as well as iconic ones as Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin.
4. Sex & The City Tour
This is a must-see for any "Sex and the City" aficionado. The tour takes you to some of the locations seen in the TV show and movie, as well as to a couple of the real-life eating spots and shopping venues mentioned in them. You can literally walk where Carrie, Samantha, and the other cast members walked.
5. NYU Film Screenings
If you want to view some films that were produced and directed by New York University Film students, you can do so at the NYU Film School. You never know, you may be one of the first ones to have viewed a film by a soon-to-be-famous director or producer.
