We often watch YouTube to fill out our spare time. There are myriad videos that range from long, high quality videos to short, silly, viral ones. However, you will never experience the "real" YouTube unless you check these channels out. They all have two things in common: they have a lot of subscribers and offer addictive entertainment. Plus, each has a unique selling position that no other channel has, thus attracting loyal viewers.

(List is in no particular order)

1. Nigahiga (youtube.com/nigahiga)

With nine million followers and more than a billion views, Nigahiga aka Ryan Higa is absolutely the king of YouTube. His videos are usually simple things turned stupid and hilarious (e.g., basketball basketball fail , Candy Crush movie trailer , why Selena broke up with Justin , etc). I check his channel every week for new videos; they never fail me and always make my day.

2. The Ellen Degeneres Show (youtube.com/theEllenShow)

This channel contains snippets of the famous talk show. If you don't have time to watch the full show, you can always go to this channel and look for your favourite celebrity videos. One of my favourite sections on the show is Tony Karaoke; Tony is the show's DJ but ironically can't remember any lyrics. You can see how the karaoke goes below.

3. Smosh (youtube.com/smosh)

Smosh is another comedic channel. It is run by Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. I enjoy their skits, like the one below. Besides that, they do a lot of other videos including music, gaming, and graphic videos.

4. How It Should Have Ended/HISHE (youtube.com/HISHEdotcom)

A unique channel, HISHE serves the viewers cartoons of how movies "should have ended". They create alternate endings that are often silly and funny. They make fun of the movies' bloopers, interesting characters, famous lines, and so on. What's really impressive beside the idea itself is the decent animation and dubbing (check Hishe's rendition of Batman 's voice).

5. Honest Trailers of Screen Junkies (youtube.com/screenjunkies)

As the name suggests, Screen Junkies' channel is loaded with all things movie-related, from movie vlogs to interviews. Nevertheless, my top favorite section of the channel is Honest Trailers, where the channel makes a "trailer" of the movie, commenting and criticising it of course in a humorous way. It's different than HISHE, so you also have to see this channel, too.

6. MysteryGuitarMan (youtube.com/MysteryGuitarMan)
This man is not actually mysterious… He's name is Joe Penna. Anyway, he's a talented musician who owns this very unusual channel. Yes, he does music, but in the weirdest ways possible. For example, he makes music with lights and does stop motion music . Very entertaining.

7. Mike Relm (youtube.com/relmvision)
Mike Relm makes fancy remixes of famous franchises like movies that challenge you to dance. Their remixes are really impressive as the audio is accompanied by scenes from the movies. This Harry Potter remix even tells the story of all 8 movies.

8. Dirty Loops (youtube.com/dirtyloops)
I declare this channel the best cover music YouTube of all time. Dirty Loops consists of three very skillful Swedish musicians who clearly know what music is about. They turn a simple song into a set of complex, funky, yet hearable tune. Their music is a combination of high quality fusion, funk, and dance.

9. Snarky Puppy of GroundUpMusicNYC (youtube.com/groundUPmusicNYC)
Snarky Puppy started off as an underground fusion-world-jazz ensemble that made their way up to the top of the jazz world. I personally watched their concert recently and they blew my mind away. Their YouTube videos show how they record their music (which is live, by the way) for the albums. You could feel the tranquility, peace, and their emotions flowing in the atmosphere. I really wish I could be a part of the audience.

10. CrashCourse (youtube.com/crashcourse)
If you want to expand your knowledge of practically anything, then this channel is the answer. The Green brothers, John (author of the Fault in Our Stars) and Hank, can teach you History, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, and Literature in 10 minutes. Don't worry about getting bored; you definitely won't be. The videos have humour, beautiful graphics, and are understandable. The Green brothers are indeed good teachers.

Happy YouTube-ing!
