Where birthday parties don't have to cost an arm and a leg
1. Noosa River – Gympie Terrace 'The Pirate Party'
Probably the most popular and best place for a kid's birthday party in the Noosa area. Every weekend sees a flurry of balloons, parents and excited kids at the Pirate Playground where they are entertained with slides, swings, things that turn and others that bounce. For the older kids, there is an open field next to the playground where families participate in balls games.
This is the kind of place where parents can set up then sit down and relax. When kids are bored of the playground, there is always sand and water or a stage where would-be stars can act or sing. There are barbecue facilities and sheltered areas. Also a great place for a glass of wine at sunset when the party's over.
Fun on the Noosa River
2. The Avenue Park – Peregian Springs
Tucked away in the heart of Peregian Springs is an ideal children's party venue. The park overlooks a tranquil lake with bridges, ducks and water lilies. The playground is fenced for younger children and there are shelters and barbecue areas.
3. Tickle Park – Coolum Beach Beach Party. This recently renovated park has a popular spider web climbing feature and fenced equipment that will keep kids entertained for ages. 6. Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens 'Discover the Hidden Treasures' Party
This is one of the hidden gems of the Sunshine Coast. There is a delightful 'Whipbird Walk', an intriguing discovery walk where children can keep an eye out for hidden treasures like giant wire spiders, butterflies and animal statues - an ideal adventure for excitable children. There are plenty of grassy areas for the children to play traditional party games or just sit and have a picnic tea. The Sculpture Garden is great for hide and seek.
