Only vintage, classic, café racer, bobber, scrambler or other custom motorcycles may register. There are around thirty to forty riders registered in Toowoomba at present.
Attired in dapper apparel such as tweed suits, cravats, bow ties and even monocles, every year these Poirot-turned-biker participants roll through town to a secret location.
This event was kick-started in Sydney in 2012. Worldwide it involves 58 countries and 257 cities.
The ride is already over halfway to reaching their goal of raising $3M. If you raise over $200USD you will receive a commemorative sticker and exclusive patch pack. You will also be eligible to go into the draw to win one of four Triumph Thruxton motorcycles. To enter you must pen a code of conduct as specified on the website.
The Toowoomba chapter has around six fundraisers, the top person being a woman. Women's involvement in the ride is limited to pillion passenger, sorry girls. Dressing up is compulsory.
Meeting at 9am at the Toowoomba Showgrounds the ride leaves at 10am. Details on location and stop points are available once you have registered. Registration is free and can be performed online or simply arrive and register on the day.
If you don't ride you can still help out by donating or sponsoring online or at the Showgrounds.
To quote the Distinguished Gentleman's Riders why not 'Bring your finest manners, neatest beards and a sense of fun and adventure'?
