Toowoomba and District Old Machinery Society (TADOMS) holds its annual old machine rally each year on the last weekend of October in the rural town of Oakey.
On Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st of October, there will be displays of old tractors, engines, cars, trucks and steam engines.
Included in the program is a Grand Parade, Tractor Pulling, Balancing, Games, Other Demonstrations, Static Displays, Swap Sites, Craft Stalls and Food and Drinks available for purchase.
It is a fun day watching and learning about engines. The owners of the engines are more than happy to talk and to explain about the engines. They are very passionate and love to demonstrate how their engines works and their application.
It is a great experience to watch the old engines running. Talking with a gentleman who was running a steam engine, he said he took over the passion from his father.
There are also a few stalls where it is possible to pick up something unique and peculiar. Generally, children have lots of fun! My teenage son has picked up a few interesting items, like an old captain's hat, a real soldier helmet and a few boxes with plane models. Food and drinks are available, so you can enjoy your stay. Sit down with a cup of coffee or taste the cakes available.
Adults: $10.00 Saturday, $5.00 Sunday, Children under 14 free when accompanied by an Adult

Old Machinery Expo Roaring 20's themed attire is most welcome. Prizes are awarded for the best-dressed Male and Female.
The Society began with a few members and more people have joined over the years.
TADOMS wants to preserve the old machinery and organise rallies to involve all the community. It is very interesting to learn about the old engines, how they are operated and their use in the old days.
There are many people interested in old engines and demonstrate the possible use of them. Steam engines were used to move big steam trains, pumping water from mines and they contributed to the progress in transport and industries.
Machines have played an essential role for the progress of humanity. In the past, a few people put their ingenuity and their skills to construct machines, useful to progress in many fields.
Prior to the 1800s, the harvest of wheat, corn and cotton were done by hand with the help of animal-drawn carts. When agricultural machines were introduced, farming saw an enormous shift in production. The farmers were able to harvest bigger sections of land and more rapidly.
Another milestone invention was the steam engine, which played an essential role in the development of the industries. The steam engine was invented in 1698 by British Thomas Savery and kept being developed over the years and it was in full use during the Industrial Revolution.
Steam engines were used in factories and made all transports easier and faster. The steam engine had numerous applications, changing the way of life of entire communities in the world.
It is important to preserve old machines because they are witnesses of the history of people who lived in the past and in different areas.
Oakey
Oakey is a pleasant rural town in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland. From Brisbane, it is about two hours drive, 154 km, according to Google, Via Toowoomba on the Warrego Hwy.
Oakey is famous for the legendary local
racehorse Bernborough. Standing outside the Jondaryan Shire Office is an impressive life-size bronze horse cast in its honour.
Bernborough won many consecutive races in the late 1930s and 1940s and became a legend. Forced to retire after fracturing a bone, he was taken to the USA to sire progeny which included many champions.
Another attraction in the area is the
Australian Army Flying Museum which has a superb collection of historic aircraft. On display are also old uniforms and replicas of aircraft flown by the army.
The Australian Army Flying Museum recreates lost memories of the past and preserves the military aviators legacy into the future.
