If you like spine-tingling, spooky, eerie, paranormal activities in a guided tour, then Brisbane's oldest cemetery is the place to head, to be truly spooked this Friday the 13th. Opened after hours, Toowong Cemetery comes alive when all who are dead and meant to be asleep underneath may stir.

As we were guided along eerie shadowy tree-lined paths, up and around dark and sinister groves, stopping at eerie crypts, with… oh so many scary stories to tell, we got a sense of a lesser civilised Brisbane. Once the Sunshine State is set into total darkness, stories of Brisbane's very own gothic vampire story, early pioneering days, local governors, successful but murderous businessman and his suffering family will shock you, horrify you and will even dampen the corners of the eye.

To make it even creepier, the cemetery's gothic architecture and headstones assists our knowledgeable guide, to set the tone, that this is one tour that is bound to get the heart pumping. As we were guided around the 120,000 graves that occupy this historical landmark, we heard a sling of eerie stories that would send a chill down anyone's spine, regardless of the weather conditions. And yep , bringing your own torch is a must, as this cemetery is super haunted, although one is provided for you. But if you're like me and want to double-chec, to see that the Angel isn't behind you, or that the statue in front of you doesn't move, then a torch is definitely a must.

It is recommended to bring cameras and everyone must wear flat enclosed but sturdy shoes, as things quickly go supernatural. This is a perfect time to take some awesome snaps of Brissies skyline at night, as well as paying homage to lost souls and loves lost if you're keen. This tour is not for the faint-hearted, but oh so good to enjoy. If walking in a cemetery isn't up your ally, the good folks at Brisbane Ghost Tours have a two-hour ghost tour of Boggo Road Gaol as well as Nundah Cemetery for those die-hard paranormal enthusiasts this Friday the 13th.

If you're after something a little bit different, these good peeps have on offer other ghost tours that will tickle anyone's fancy, who loves a good story and a good scare. If you love a good crime story, then these fantastic storytellers have it all covered, with tours such as Bloody Brisbane Crime Tour – walk or coach tour.
