Want to take the kids for a swim but don't want to deal with the large crowds or entrance fee of the public swimming pool? Consider as the perfect place to let your little ones get their feet wet in a safe, shallow body of water.
The best part of the creek is found on
Moffat Beach . The beach has some pretty rough surf and is unsupervised so this is the perfect place if you're looking to get your feet wet and splash around a bit. The smooth, calm waters just trickle off into the ocean, making it the perfect place for those uncomfortable with swimming in the waves.
This isn't just a great place for the kids to swim. Dogs as well will love splashing around. Parents who aren't so keen on getting wet will find plenty of shade around thanks to the nearby trees. Plenty of places to set up the picnic rug.
Of course, there's more to than just this beautiful play area. Head to
Eleanor Shipley Memorial Park and follow the footpath east. You'll find a lovely shaded walkway along the creek. Once you pass under the Elizabeth St Bridge there's not much more to see unfortunately.
Turn back and keep an eye out for the benches and tables that are scattered along this short walk. If you want a quiet spot for a picnic by the creek you'll find it here.
could almost be considered the kids' pool of the Moffat Beach area. The parts of the creek that run onto the beach are just perfect for young families looking to introduce the little ones to a bit of water. A great place to learn water safety or just to splash around to cool off.
