More than just a fundraiser for Save the Children and Country Women's Association , this first time French themed 'Fair' will be entertaining you in a couple of ways. On the 28th of March 2015 from 4pm onwards (the Soiree will go till 9pm) at Umina - 3 Lansell Road, Toorak, you'll have the 'Markets' and the 'Soiree'. There's also going to be a door prize for the best dressed chic Madam and Monsieur, so come in your best French gear!

It's free to attend the 25 or more market stalls and get a bite to eat or for a donation of $10 (children 12 and under go free) you could attend the Soiree and all it beholds in entertainment. Since this is a fundraiser to help worthy causes, we hope you'll do both. Save the Children are already on the ground in Vanuatu providing life saving aid following the devastating impact of Cyclone Pam. Your donations will help make a difference in the survival of those whom have lost their homes and their livelihood. What better way to help than by donating $10 and getting a whole lotta entertainment and fun out of it.

For sustenance the market will have organic coffee at Coffee by Ma and Pa and the CWA Bayside branch will be cooking up Le Crêpes led by their very own master chef Carolina and crew. There will be other French delights on offer, including nougats by Eat Sweet and Sally McNally's will be right up there with the best tempting you with their own brand of delicious pate plates, lemon tarts and home made goodies.

Some of the stalls of the 25 or so at the market will include: -

  • Flowers by Angela (with a French stylish flair)
  • Felt hats made with love by Wendy
  • Gateaux from Hampton street (with an array of French delights)
  • Buttons To Go (hand made brooches plus more)
  • Natural body scrubs by Natural by Natasha
  • Nutrimetics - Sue Ellen will refresh your make up for you.
  • Bag Queen (a collection of beautiful bags)
  • Fine Art for Interiors
  • Lunabloo and more.

  • For the Soiree you will be led to the secret garden for a piazza style gathering where you can linger and listen to French music. The Minstrel Earls will be in full flight with their jazzy style and French band Vive la Difference will also be there to entertain you.

That's not all as Nathalie will be presenting French Journey tours and Veronique of Cote-Soleil will entice you with exotic accessories. A Table Provencale will make choices even harder with their array of home wares direct from Provence, France.

If food is what you're after Frencheese by Romain will serve up hot cheese dishes from the French Swiss region of France. This will include the Raclette-fondue cheese and chocolate fondue, while Katherine will be serving home made lemonade and a non alcoholic punch.

There will be two ceramic artists in the form of Anis Ceramics and Elnaz Nourizadeh whose work you can feast your eyes upon.

For the more serious side of this French affaire, your generosity will go towards two very worthy causes, one of them in current (Save the Children in Vanuatu crises) dire need of your help. Margot Melzac the President of the Toorak Save the Children and the Treasurer Nicki Lee have been fund raising for this branch for 21 years. They support many projects locally as well that include a play bus that provides toys and books to new migrant families. They also support two indigenous kindergartens right here in Victoria and they've just opened a new op shop in Bentleigh. One of Australia's largest aid and development agencies as a whole, read about Save the Children and their dedication to helping children.

The second recipient of this fundraising event, CWA a non-profit organisation is not all about baking cakes. They are involved in many areas supporting women and families everywhere. They also take a keen interest in Government and social issues and take an active role in lobbying for causes such as farmers rights and family violence awareness programs. Their aim is to improve the conditions for women and children and make life better for families, especially those living in regional, rural and remote Australia. Your generosity will aid them in reaching out to places where they're needed.
