Recently I took a short road trip inland from Caboolture. One of my nights was spent at Toogoolawah, which is only 20 minutes from Somerset dam. A pleasant country town with all you need.

I opted to stay at the Exchange hotel, right in the middle of town. It's a pleasant old building that has not been modernised. I booked a basic room for $55 for the night. It had all I needed. There are a variety of rooms available to suit most peoples needs, but definitely not handicapped friendly.

The bathroom was straight across the hall with the kitchen next to it. My tariff included a basic breakfast which I could prepare myself. Cereal and toast with the usual hot drinks. The room was very clean, with air-conditioning and opened out onto a large balcony. On the balcony were a very old comfortable lounge and a large dining room table and chairs. Excellent for takeaway dining with prefered drinks. From there, you got great views of some of the area.

Downstairs was the dining room that is open for lunch and dinner every day. The pleasant bar was the usual with gaming and Keno. A bottle shop is an added bonus for those who do not like to hang out in bars.
