Writing is my passion, I love to write for clients and guest blogs, as well as sharing our adventures here on Weekend Notes. I share my journey as I blend my own VA business and homeschooling with life in Toodyay here -
Toodyay gets into the Christmas Spirit
Every year, the main street of Toodyay closes to traffic and all the local businesses and community groups prepare for the official start of the Christmas season - the Toodyay Christmas Street Party.
Now, Toodyay is well known for its love of Christmas - after all, it is home to Christmas 360, a giant Christmas store that is open year round. It's not unusual to see tour buses stopping to check out their wares ranging from small baubles to giant statues.
But at the start of December, the whole town comes out to celebrate Christmas. The streets are filled with people from all ages and walks of life coming together to join in the Christmas spirit. The wonderful Toodyay Community Singers serenade the crowds with traditional Christmas Carols.
As you walk down the main street there is something for everyone and it's all free (well, unless you decide to purchase something from one of the many stalls).
Children can enjoy rides and activities. This year, Toodyay CRC provided a fantastic snowman building workshop as part of their continued work supporting the community. The Toodyay Lions Club once again had their mini train running, which is always a hit with the kids. There were bouncy castles, rides for all ages and an amazing face painter.
Of course, Santa made an appearance on his golden throne and walked around handing out lollies. The Meat Hook Toodyay fed the crowds alongside other food vans and vendors. And the stores in the main street opened their doors for late night trading. This is always a great opportunity to get some shopping done for Christmas and support local stores.

Toodyay is a beautiful, little, rural town and is always full of things to do and events. Only a short drive from Perth, it is perfect for a day trip or short stay. The Toodyay Christmas Street Party, run by the Toodyay Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the best Christmas events each year and a credit to the organisers, stall holders, performers and community groups.
