I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Put some joy in your winter by spending an hour in the company of Tom Gleeson. His performance at the the Civic Theatre Newcastle is fresh from a successful run at the 2019 Melbourne Comedy Festival and part of a national tour.
Tom is a regular on ABC's The Weekly with Charlie Pickering as the master of the Hard Chat and is the host of Hard Quiz. He is an experienced comedian who has performed at every major comedy festival in the world and has been nominated for a Helpmann three times. His style is confident and brash and he loves to engage with and put down hecklers. At one stage he actually invites the audience to question his routine.
Joy is very funny with Tom going off on tangents and regularly breaking into rants. Politicians such as Scott Morrison, Peter Dutton and Barnaby Joyce get a serve of sarcasm and we were given some insight into Tom's family life and youth growing up in a NSW country town. Childhood holidays spent in Port Stephens and members of his extended family in the audience gave the Newcastle show a personal touch. The show is not suitable for children as there are adult themes and a fair bit of strong language throughout.
Catch some of Tom Gleeson's joy, he has plenty to share!
