Looking for the best chicken north of the city?
Tom and Jerry are beloved characters from our childhood and are now being used to represent charcoal chicken and shawarma. It might seem like a strange mix but this middle-eastern oriented chicken shop is definitely a place that you want to stop in at.
Having tried their traditional charcoal chicken, their chicken shawarma with the lot and a bag of hot chips, I can say that this has got to be one of the very best places to get chicken in Adelaide. Their seasoned charcoal chicken is rich in flavor but doesn't succumb to dry thick chicken; the inner part of the bird is succulent and juicy. The meat itself easily breaks apart from the body and I can tell you now, it'll be easy to fight over such good food. The chips that came alongside the chicken were cooked to a nice crisp crunchy texture and salted almost perfectly, they complement the chicken easily.
If you get a meal deal while visiting Tom and Jerry you can receive a chicken, chips and a side salad. Their salad isn't your traditional Greek, Italian or garden salad however, it's a traditional middle-eastern salad that holds a smack load of flavor that will leave you wanting more.
Now if you're unfamiliar with shawarma, it's very similar to that of a yiros. A sharwarma is a wrap filled with chicken, salad and a delicious garlic saw and this is once again something that Tom and Jerry delivers on. The shawarma itself delivers the same succulent chicken and flavorsome salad with the perfect amount of garlic sauce. If you're a fan of a good chicken yiros, don't hesitate to try their shawarma.
The customer service provided at Tom and Jerry's was also top-notch with the friendly staff happy to explain the menu and salad options to you, as well as even asking how you would like your chicken done and if there is a certain amount of salad or salad choices you would like in your shawarma.
If you're heading down main north road or even live close by and are feeling peckish then head on into Tom and Jerry's. I promise you won't regret it.
Walking in to the shop was a little daunting with a large amount of the owners mates sitting outside. While the food was amazing, the service was poor. When I asked about the salads ( after reading that the staff are happy to explain) I received the reply of " whatever is there." Owners need to focus more on their customers then their friends outside.
