Who new that Japanese food and jazz would go together like spaghetti and meatballs? There's nothing quite like sipping a frosty Sapporo as you watch a man master the double bass. The homely restaurant in Bondi Junction is right opposite Sushi Express. Run by a Japanese couple, the small intimate room comes to life when ever a live jazz band takes the stage.

Like most of the places I go to, it's cheap. Why pay fifty bucks for something when you can get it for fifteen? The gig is free as long as you buy a few drinks. The food is straight off the streets of Japan. A mixture of traditional and modern classics with a few surprises thrown in. I've tried most things on the menu, I've never been unhappy. They also house a beautiful white wine that the owner sauces himself, Marlborough. I can never seem to help myself. It's hard to beat if you're looking for a quiet night out.

Be sure to book ahead if you're heading there for a gig, it's pretty popular. Or join their mailing list and book online.
