Perfect for your next date night
Recently opening in Melbourne's Prahran, Toko Melbourne is offering up a Japanese cuisine lover a whole lotta options.

Following the great success that sibling Sydney restaurant has had over the years, Toko Melbourne has finally (and after a much anticipation from a gal who loves the Sydney venue) opened it's doors.

Located on Greville St, Toko is just a short stroll of the main drag of Prahran's bustling Chapel St and makes a great location for a date night, or just a nice dinner out.

Inside Toko, you'll find it's divided between the popular bar area, and outdoor bar area and the main dining room. There's also a few private dining spaces for groups or special events.

You'll also find a mix of long communal tables as well private tables for two, making it an ideal spot to have a cosy conversation for two as well as a great place for a group to celebrate a special occasion. Dining solo? Just grab a seat at the sushi bar.

Love sake? You're in the right spot as the sake list boasts over 60 types to try!

We sampled several dishes and (if our appetites would've held out longer) could've easily chosen many more, but to share a few, we started off with the essential edamame appetizer.

The menu is extensive as is the wine list and includes so much more than sushi/sashimi.

We also tried the tempura zucchini flowers stuffed with tofu and feta, another delicious start and perfect for sharing.

Next up, the robata grilled scallop with sweet pickled apple and jalapeno garlic. Certainly a tasty dish and while it's easily shared, you likely won't want to.

Another winning dish, and a Toko favourite is the gyuniku no tataki; thinly sliced seared beef, pickled onions, mizuna and garlic chips. You'll miss these delicious little treats after the last bite.

If the menu leaves you feeling overwhelmed and unable to choose, you can also order one of the chef's tasting menus, which serves up a bit of everything giving you the opportunity to try it all.
