Let's have fun with our little ones! Complementing the existing classes in prospect , Toddler Craft has expanded to bring you Toddler Bop Additional Needs classes, free to attend in Craigmore every Wednesday morning.

An opportunity has been made available by Anglicare in conjunction with Elizabeth Community Connections and Toddler Craft for Toddler Bop Additional Needs sessions to welcome children to come together with parents or carers in a safe, accepting and supportive space to express their enthusiasm and develop skills that will stay with them for life.

Toddler Bop Additional Needs classes introduce children to a range of instruments, musical concepts, rhythm and movement. Every child has an opportunity to play a range of instruments in class, playing along with music and individually experimenting with different sounds including fun introductions to concepts like a scale, tone and tempo. There are nursery rhymes to sing along with and crowd favourite songs always on rotation.

Established in 2012 by mumpreneur Rebecca, Toddler Craft and Toddler Bop came about as a result of not having much success seeking a suitable music class for her two young boys. "I took him (Rebecca's eldest son, Toby) to some baby music sessions and a couple of different dance classes but wasn't able to find what I was after. I wanted him to be able to experiment with instruments and start to have an appreciation and understanding of music and sounds. I found that most of the 'music' classes that are offered to babies/toddlers have little to do with learning about music and instruments and often the teacher had no musical background or instrument knowledge".

With over 20 years' experience as a musician, dancer and theatre performer, and more recently as a parent, the foundation Rebecca brings to Toddler Bop is a combined understanding of children, music and dance, and an ability to lead classes and keep children entertained playing guitar, autoharp, flute, singing, and more. As a parent of two energetic young boys of her own, the introduction of these concepts is well tested, demonstrated and adapted for all ages and abilities by learning through play.

A mixture of activities lets parents and children all participate, with the program changing regularly to incorporate different songs and exercises. Rebecca attributes much of the program's success to detailed planning and sourcing music, resources and props to aid in different children's learning and development. Each week's program is hand crafted with themes and concepts that run throughout a term.

Toddler Bop classes are free and run every Wednesday morning at 10am in the school term at Catherine McAuley School in Craigmore. Toddler Bop Additional Needs is suitable for children up to 6 years old and must live in the City of Playford.
