Toasted is the new kid on the café block at Everton Park enticing us with the promise that it is the place where great food and great coffee meet. Toasted opened its doors on Wednesday 19 November 2016 and was officially launched in early December by local State Member for Everton, Tim Mander, in what is becoming an ever growing shopping hub.

Styling and location – the Toasted Way
Being refurbished, Toasted has enjoyed a contemporary, new fitout with an olive green and white colour palette, wooden floors, white walls and industrial styled cage lighting. Driving down South Pine Road at Everton Park, it is easy to spot the Toasted logo above the shop with it edgy, graffiti styled sign with a cheeky splash of purple. Parking is made easy with a small car park beside the café which is a luxury in this busy shopping precinct. A small number of tables (3) with bright orange chairs are available on the curbside, so with pooch by my side, this was our preferred choice of seating to enjoy the summer sunshine and a healthy dose of people watching. And yes, there was a bowl of water waiting for him, which is also welcome. Inside seating is also available with ample space. Staff are very friendly and attentive. So service got a yes from me.

What's on the menu?
In terms of food options, Toasted offers a full, all-day breakfast and lunch menu from classic favourites like Eggs Benedict through to lunchtime burgers and salads. Minted peas and haloumi on toast ($12), toasted breakfast herbivore style ($18) or carnivore style (with bacon, lamb sausage and chicken chipolata $19) were standouts menu items which caught my attention. As for drinks, Campos is the coffee of choice ($3.50) for a cappuccino) and is served up alongside Emma and Toms juices and freshly made shakes and smoothies. My chai latte arrived with a complimentary shortbread biscuit on the side of the saucer. Very nice!

During the Christmas season, holiday specials include the very festive gingerbread latté, fruit mince pies, Christmas slice and homemade Christmas Cake and shortbread. Beautifully wrapped Christmas hampers are available to take a little piece of Toasted home with you or to give as a Christmas present filed with Byron Bay Cookies, Campos coffee beans and a voucher.

Café with a conscience
Swell as serving great food and drinks, Toasted supported the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal by collecting and donating toys. This café has a local, community feel and actions like this only reinforce it has found a special place in Everton Park.
