Julie Goodwin, Australia's first Masterchef winner back in 2009, has come a long way since her inaugural win with several cookbooks now published, cooking segments on the Today program, a presenting role on Star 104.5's Breakfast Show, a CD release of Christmas songs, recipes through Woolworths and her own cooking school, Julie's Place.
She is now set to headline the Central Coast's premier food, wine and music festival – Toast the Coast. Here she will provide cooking demonstrations throughout the day, along with other chefs. See cheese making and drink demos, cookie decorating and a whole lot more. Over 80 exhibitors, such as The Hungry Traveller, Cafe Camino and Pasta Gallery will showcase their tastes of the coast. Purchase kitchen and catering supplies as well.
Held at the Entertainment Grounds in Gosford, there will be a great variety of food to enjoy, along with wines, craft beers and cider, all from local growers and producers. Taste the best from gourmet restaurants and cafes with five and ten dollar tasting plates.
Listen to some great music whilst taking in the ambience. Live music will come in various forms from jazz bands, orchestras, buskers and entertainers setting the vibe.
A diverse range of activities for children include drumming, seed planting, the Mariners soccer pitch, a petting zoo, jumping castle and face painting. Kids can also test their cooking skills and create some simple meals in the See, Touch and Taste program.
Art works from the regions' best galleries will be on display, promoting local talent, and don't forget the raffles with a cruise holiday up for grabs.
Entry is by gold coin donation and all proceeds go to the Coast Shelter which protects, feeds and houses the vulnerable in the community, the majority being women and child victims of domestic violence.
So taste and toast the coast whilst grooving to the tunes, helping those in need at the same time.
