Toasties, jaffles or grilled cheeses – whatever you call them, toasted cheese sandwiches are making a comeback.

Nestled in a quiet Nunawading street is 'Toast'. The leafy eastern suburbs have been looking for a new eatery and Toast, the new kid on the block has fit right into the fabric of this family loving suburban street. All you need is a quick visit and taste to see why the ratings have been hitting over 4.9 stars on Google reviews.

Driving past, you might not notice this little café on the corner but with sunshine yellow branding and the smell of perfectly grilled cheese, it is hard to miss. Serving ground ST. ALi, Melbourne coffee, aficionados will appreciate the attention to detail and variety of brews on offer.

Open every day from 7 am to 3 pm, there's plenty of time to enjoy a steaming hot toastie or jaffle. Build your toastie right from the beginning, with bread, cheese and filling options galore! If you're looking for something extra, add a wickedly different side item like guacamole or even pork crackle. Or, take the decisions out of your hands and select from Toast's assortment of pre-designed toasties, jaffles, and open-faced toasts.

Early on a Sunday morning, we visited for a homestyle breakfast for two. On the menu for us was a loaded Reuben toastie and strawberry milkshake – along with a 'build your own' mozzarella sourdough toastie and divine latte. Prices are more than reasonable and our filling breakfast came in at $37 including drinks.

Don't be fooled by the small interior, this place has a big heart (and plenty of outdoor seating!). Delicious coffee and milkshakes for the little ones accompany the wide variety of toasties on offer. Even your furry friends are looked after, with doggie biscuits from Frankley Pet Providore.

Certainly providing the community with what they're looking for, Toast also offers a limited supply of fresh sushi and nigiri from Koshi. Sushi is only available on Fridays and Saturdays – so you will have to get in quick for that one!

Giving back to the community that has welcomed them so wholeheartedly, Toast will be introducing a new round of Thursday night community barbeques. Funds raised will be contributed towards customer nominated charities, with 17 different charities receiving funds in 2019.

If, after all this, you still couldn't find what you're looking for at Toast, they also have a range of grab and go sandwiches and delicious cakes and treats! Gluten-free options are available and the variety is enough to tickle anyone's tastebuds.

A real sense of community and care follows you from the moment you enter Toast and delicious smells follow you out. Try them out today!
