I am a world traveller & a mom of two, (8 & 6). I love to meet people, and am fascinated that there are 7 billion stories out there to be explored. I think Melbourne is the most happening city to live in with all the fun activities around town.

Our quest for a brunch place ended up at Tivoli in Fountaingate one fine day. We hadn't tried it or read any reviews but glanced at the menu which was reasonably extensive, with appropriate choices for breakfast and lunch. Located right across the busy fresh fruit and vegetable market, Tivoli seems to be a popular stop for many.

My husband and I both liked an item each we wanted to try, so we decided to stay. It was around noon on a rainy day, and the cafe was relatively busy.

Cafe style restaurant: Tivoli

Tivoli serves breakfast items all day. My husband ordered scrambled eggs with toast. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich from their special sandwich menu. The cafe offers a choice of white, wheat or multigrain toast.

The service was quick and the presentation was simple but pleasing and appetizing. The scrambled eggs were warm, fresh and delicious.

My sandwich was divine. I ordered multigrain toast, which was toasted to perfection. The contents of the entire sandwich i.e. the freshest vegetables and tasty cheese put together blended beautifully, rendering the sandwich exquisite to the last bite. For $6.50, I had nothing to complain about.

The decor of the cafe is simple and bright with yellow and brown furniture and linings. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating.

The restaurant is named after the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark, which serves as a meeting place for families and friends and is much loved by the Danes. Tivoli Restaurant is a take on the Danish savouries in Aussie style.

If you are in the area, and craving a light snack, a coffee or dessert, Tivoli would be an ideal place to stop and enjoy the ambience and the hustle and bustle of shoppers at Fountaingate Plaza.
