My early career was in teaching, writing, producing and directing for theatre, comedy and impro shows. Now I'm a professional creative person. Mostly high-end branding, strategy, writing, editing and digital content creation.

Cue movie voiceover guy voice:
First there was the tragedy, then there were the stories of survival and of loss, then we saw the mega blockbuster film, after which we vocally mangled its high-pitched histrionic theme song, and now, we have the chance to relive it all in a glorious interactive 3-D theatrical experience, Titanic The Movie, The Play.

From the producers of the runaway hit sensation, Speed The Movie, The Play, Titanic The Movie, The Play will be breaking bows and hearts at Powerhouse Theatre for the Brisbane Comedy Festival this March.

Dan Beeston plays Jack in Titanic the Movie the Play this March for Brisbane Comedy Festival.

See lowborn but high spirited Jack woo highborn but low spirited Kate into steamy handprint making car sex and outstretched 'king of the world' freedom cries. See evil Billy Zane be evil. See and iceberg attack an innocent ship that was just minding its own business. See yourself getting into a lifeboat, or the frozen waters of the sea. But whatever you do, see it.

Check out a five minute edit of my chat with Dan below, or visit Talking Funny for the full, uncut interview.

Co-writer and star of the show Dan Beeston spoke to me about what audiences can expect from this year's Act/React production, which I mistakenly referred to as a spoof.

"Spoof always gives the sense that you don't respect the film," Dan explained, "Like we're making fun of it; and while there's a lot of fun to be had, I like to think that it's more of an homage to the original film."

Dan and his cowriters like to bring kindness and joy to their comedy.

The real point of difference for these Act/React productions is that the audience is actually 'in' the show. You take part in the action – but don't worry if you're shy – it's all very easy, low pressure audience interaction.

"Speed was easy because you loaded them onto a bus," Dan revealed, "In this case we're just going to load them onto a boat."

So don't expect to sit back passively. You will have to vie for a seat on a lifeboat and some of you might not be so lucky.

"They may end up in first class or in steerage, so dress nice, or you may end up with the rats!" Dan laughed.

"It's kind theatre, it's theatre you can bring your kids to, but you are going to have a blast."

If last year's production was anything to go by, tickets for Titanic The Movie, The Play are not going to last. Book early to avoid missing the boat!
