Pornography is literature designed to be read with one hand
It is a great truth that modern society is saturated with sex. Social media, Grinder, Tindr, advertising, 'Free the nipple', slut shaming and the ever-present pornography all over the internet.

How then can young people today build physical relationships responsibly and with integrity?

Emerging theatremakers Tim Green and Samantha Maclean have taken this central question and explored it in a play to be premiered at The Blue Room this November, Tissue.

Co-creator Tim Green says: "It's a really tricky time to be young, single and working out how to navigate all of the potential mines in contemporary culture. We're so quick to judge; to call people out on their behaviour behind closed doors, even though we may be doing exactly the same things ourselves."

The show features Ann Marie Biagioni (F*ck Decaf) Elijah Melvin and Taryn Ryan and explores current attitudes towards sexuality, pornography and popular culture.

Green: "We want to create a series of stories that ask some difficult questions and perhaps even provide some difficult answers. We want to open up the conversation and encourage healthy debate; we want to explore these issues from an unashamedly 20-something perspective, as our take on these matters often gets ignored in public debate."

Tissue runs at The Blue Room, Perth Cultural Centre, 53 James Street, Northbridge from the 8th to the 26th of November at 8:30pm (plus a matinée at 6pm on the 26th.)

Tickets cost from $18 to $28 and are available by ringing 9227 7005 on on-line here.
