Come and explore a beautiful Mediterranean-style garden
The owners of Tipsy Hill, Bec and Richard Hardy, are passionate about their garden, vineyard and sharing this with those around them. Tipsy Hill is an expansive garden with many garden spaces to explore, the gardens overlook a series of valleys, vineyards and beyond to the rolling hills of the Southern Vales.

Their home and gardens have a remarkable outlook, which has quite a Mediterranean atmosphere. The garden is full of cottage garden plants and lush hedges. There are groves of purple and white lavender, with the old world charm of roses and winding garden paths. The garden was planned and planted 20 years ago by the original owner to enhance the sweeping 360-degree views across McLaren Vale and the Mount Lofty Ranges.

There are many nooks and crannies tucked away, as there are expansive views. The garden has utilised its own bore water supply to be more sustainable, especially in the long hot South Australian summers. The garden and property takes their name from the 6th-century Chinese tea rose planted in the gardens Rosa Tipsy Imperial Concubine. The rose, named after one of the Four Beauties of Ancient China, Yang Guifei, was so named because the pale pink blooms and alluring fragrance of the rose are said to have made her feel light-headed or tipsy. So, no allusions to an overindulgence of the fine wine on offer!
