Come down the rabbit hole like Alice did long ago and enter a secret wonderland right here in Canberra, where you can enjoy high tea-but with a twist.

Because this is not your ordinary, traditional high tea full of fluffy scones and cucumber sandwiches and pots of English breakfast tea. In fact, there are no scones here, and the drinks you get might make you just a little bit tipsy!

Welcome to the tipsy high tea at White Rabbit Cocktail Room.

I've had my fair share of high teas over the years, but I've never had one served with a Bloody Mary or Strawberry Vermouth or Pim's Cup Cocktail before.

Until now.

Drink Me
A White Rabbit high tea includes your choice of signature cocktails, such as the Strawberry Vermouth and Pimm's Cup Cocktail (with its refreshing mix of Pimm's Number 1, lemon, orange, cucumber, and strawberries, and topped with ginger ale and lemonade) as well as Bloody Mary, Blanco Tequila (which has a splash of French Earl Grey tea and cinnamon bark syrup in it), and Woodford Reserve bourbon. However, if cocktails aren't your thing, then you can enjoy a glass of sparkling or tea/coffee.

Eat Me
Of course, it's not just about the cocktails at White Rabbit! White Rabbit also offers the traditional high tea service, with dainty food arranged delicately on three-tiered platters.

There are two servings: savoury and sweet. When my friends and I visited, our savoury platter included spiced pork and fennel sausage rolls with tomato chutney; quiche Lorraine; roast chicken, apple and walnut sandwiches; beetroot cured salmon pinwheel sandwiches, and wagyu bresola wrapped asparagus.

As for the sweets platter, we feasted like Alice would certainly have done on macaroons, lemon meringue tarts, caramelized banana and crème fraiche mini cupcakes, chocolate and coffee delice with fresh raspberries, and scrumptious cinnamon sugar Italian donuts served with jam and cream.

A touch of Wonderland
Next to the cocktails, I think the venue itself is one of the most unique features of a White Rabbit tipsy high tea. The White Rabbit Cocktail Room is a warm, cosy, inviting, plush space with a touch of the whimsical that is Alice's Wonderland.

The White Rabbit wait staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. And unlike some other high tea places in Canberra, the entire booking process is perfectly easy, with no deposits or upfront payments required, and no dramas over split billing (split billing is allowed!).

Whether you're catching up with a small group of friends or a party of up to 100 guests, whether you're celebrating a bridal shower, birthday party or girls' night out, then a tipsy high tea at the White Rabbit Cocktail Room is sure to be an unforgettable adventure!

The White Rabbit tipsy high tea costs $65 per person. High tea is only available on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm-5pm. Bookings are essential.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked."Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.""How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice."You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here." Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
