Nature's cure for ailments is found within the food we eat. Not everyone around the world resorts to drugs for a cure. Listening to your body is rather important. Your body tells you when it feels good, bad or uncomfortable. Paying heed to these signs can help you understand what doesn't agree with you. Try eliminating those foodstuffs from your diet and see the difference it makes in your health.

1. Cook from scratch

We have complicated our eating habits. Eating out of boxes isn't natural. That food is processed and full of preservatives which does not favour the body in anyway.

If you want to see a difference then start cooking your food from fresh produce. Steer clear of canned foodstuffs as well.

2. Manage a food diary

Whatever you put in your mouth makes a mark on your body. It is a great idea to jot down your daily intake. Also have an observation column next to it to see how your body reacts to different food items. This will help you eliminate less favourable foods from your diet.

A food journal also helps in correcting food habits. It is also good for calorie conscious people.

3. Shorten the cooking time

Many vitamins and minerals are lost by heat or excessive heat. Try cooking your food in the shortest possible time. Use a pressure cooker, not only does it lead to quicker cooking but also saves time and energy/ fuel.

4. A raw and semi raw diet is the best

It helps to preserve the mineral and vitamin content in the food. It also provides more roughage. Your body will thank you for keeping it in prime health. Claims have been made that raw food reverses the ageing process.

5. Smoothies provide vitamins and minerals

The market is full of high quality blenders and making fruit or vegetable smoothies is ultra quick. Cleaning it is equally quick and not cumbersome. Smoothies also provide plenty of fibre to the body. It is a good idea not to mix fruits with veggies when making a smoothie.

Smoothies keep you full for a long time because of the fibre content. This prevents untimely snacks and excessive munching.

6. Beneficial juice fasting

Once you have started eating plenty of raw veggies and fruits you are nearly ready for juice fasting. A juice fast is a good way to give your organs a bit of rest. Even if you stay on it for only one day a month it is still beneficial. If you plan to carry out juice fasting you should consult your doctor first.

The juice gets absorbed into the bloodstream straight away as there is no fibre content in the juice. This gives a respite to many vital organs that have been working overtime to digest, assimilate and filter the highly processed food we eat. Even if your diet is clean and comprises of unprocessed food it still gives the organs a break.

Juicing is no longer a time-consuming chore because of modern technology. It is known to heal the body. Juice, apart from providing vitamins and minerals, also provides enzymes to the body for health optimisation .
