It's been 2.5 years since I moved to Sydney from Paris, France with my wife, and lots of people ask me how I did it and how I found my current job in Sydney. To make it short, I applied for a working holiday visa, and quickly received all the necessary paperwork to live and work Down Under!

Since then, both my wife and I have had heaps of fun in Sydney. It's such a beautiful city. Every time we look at the Sydney Bridge and Opera House, we can't help thinking we're very lucky to be here.

The first thing I had to do when we arrived was to find work. I visited Australian jobs websites such as Myjobinaustralia.com, Seek.com or Jora.com to find Australian jobs for foreigners. But what I really wanted to do at the time was work for a company specialising in pet care, so I sent applications to vet clinics via the Vet & Pet Jobs website, and it worked! I was hired by the Love That Pet Moreton Bay vet clinic to work remotely for them as a digital analyst.

I was really happy, because we needed money badly to pay our rent. Sydney is such an expensive city!

Now that my wife and I had found jobs and felt a bit more relaxed at home, we went on lovely walks in Sydney and visited the more than 100 beaches this city has to offer.

It's great to live in a city where you can go for a swim in the ocean after work. We also visited The Rocks near Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour, a really nice area with plenty of cafes and attractions. You shouldn't miss it!

A few days later, we decided to visit the Blue Mountains, because we had heard so many good things about them. So we rented a car and drove West, towards the town of Leura. This place is incredibly cute. With its cafes and restaurants, it reminded us of Europe, and the houses there look like they're straight out of a fairytale.

By the way, the Blue Mountains themselves were absolutely mesmerising!

Later, we came back to Sydney and decided to settle at last. We worked and spent our weekends going to Manly beach. I even learned surfing, something I had always wanted to do! We also sampled the local cuisine. Aussie food is really delicious, and it's something that many people from Europe don't really know before they come here. We loved the mix of Australian, Asian, Indian, French and Italian food. I recommend The Gantry Restaurant & Bar in Sydney Harbour. Great views and delicious food!

After a few months, we managed to save money and decided to resume our travelling around. At first, we wanted to fly somewhere, but then we decided to go for something a little bit more original, so we booked a cruise to New Zealand!

Our cruise ship was absolutely huge, and we really had a blast during our trip! Needless to say, New Zealand is such a beautiful country... I'm a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, and it was great for me to discover the gorgeous locations where these films were made.

But that's another story!

If you're wondering if you should get a job in Australia and move there, my answer is a resounding YES! It'll be the greatest adventure of your life. You can find more information about the working holiday visa on the Australian immigration website.
