Enjoy dinner on a secluded island
South Stradbroke Island is a picturesque sand island covered with tropical bushland, which offers any visitors the opportunity to relax and enjoy the bushwalks, secluded surf beaches, stretches of calm water and varied wildlife. It's been described as one of the few places on the east coast where you can watch the sun rise and set over water.
Tipplers Licensed Café opened in July, 2012 and has since been growing steadily in popularity. In fact, some patrons have commented that they come over to the island just to enjoy the food. Currently, the café is open on weekends and special occasions such as Christmas Day and New Year but it is looking to extend its hours of business.
Tipplers is open for breakfast, lunch or dinner with the option of indoor seating or outside overlooking the water or watching the wallabies and other wildlife. The breakfast menu includes Tropical Muesli with Yoghurt and Berries, French Toast ($13.50), Big Bacon & Egg Roll and the ever-popular Eggs Benedict ($15.90).
Thai Chicken Salad ($18.90) and Eye Fillet steak with chips and salad ($21.90) are also popular menu choices but a simple coffee or latte is readily available or a Devonshire Tea ($6.90). The café sources most of its fresh ingredients from local producers.
