Dreaming of a weekend getaway? Maybe some time in the great outdoors or outback? Well, maybe it's time to try a tiny house for a few days and completely immerse yourself in nature.

It's almost like camping, except much more fancier and you're equipped with all the facilities you need to stay in comfort.

In the midst of hundreds of 300 acres lies a tiny house called Sithuri, just over 3 hours away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney and 45 minutes away from the beautiful town of Mudgee – known for its cheese and wine.

The timber cabin is entirely built and managed by Tiny Away located on a working farm in a small off-the-grid town called Windeyer.

It may look small but the house can sleep up to three people, has a large patio, perfect for breakfast, one bedroom, a living room and a well-equipped kitchen with a microwave and a fridge. What else do you really need?

The white décor and high ceilings make it spacious and light so you really don't feel like you're in a small cabin instead of a modern caravan. There's no one around and the only sound is the wind in the trees which makes the stay that much more special and unique.

From the moment we got there to the minute we left, our host Fernando was absolutely fabulous. He made sure our stay was one to remember by taking us around the farm in his ute, showing us his animals and guiding us to the best places to visit in Mudgee and surrounds.

As well as the incredible hospitality, this place is heaven for nature lovers….it's a working farm with lots of different animals – mainly cute alpacas.

For city-dwellers, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the outback, go mountain biking on the trails, bushwalking, help feed the animals and watch farm dogs round up sheep. It's incredible putting yourself in the shoes of a farmer, even if it's just for a weekend.

We spent the mornings relaxing cooking breakfast and enjoying the scenery and sunrise with a cup of coffee… And during the day we would set out and start exploring the different wineries and cheese factories Mudgee has to offer.

At night, we would wine on what we bought from the Mudgee wineries and graze on a fresh cheese platter while stargazing.

It's all about the minimalist lifestyle, getting away from the chaos and relaxing in lush valleys and wine country.

It's about $158 a night and has free Wifi throughout the property.

Small homes are a trend people love, with more wanting to live simply and sustainably.

There are now dozens of tiny house stays now popping up in some of the most beautiful places around NSW and Victoria. They are the perfect short escapes to disconnect from devices and reconnect with nature.

Whatever the reason, tiny house stays are booming – and you ought to try it out yourself!
