Be with nature along Tingalpa Creek
After being absent from the Wynnum area for nearly ten years, I am exploring the many places I "knew" and some that I had never visited. This is a local gem.

Not far from New Cleveland Road, is the Tingalpa Creek, clearly popular for canoeists and fisherfolk. There's much to see in this great natural environment. Remember to pack the insect repellant though!

I found this area at the end of Chadwell Street. There's parking there, plenty of signage and information, and only 100 meters from a fishing platform. And the covered area and BBQ area is close to the parking area.

It's a peaceful spot, feeling so far from the busy streets of the area, and it is a great feeling to be almost one with nature.

Fishing Platform

In the short time I was there, I saw a bream caught by one of the fisherfolk, and heard tales that it was generally a lucrative fishing spot. Maybe I'll take my rod and gear to test it out soon.

BBQ Area

With such a short wall from the car parking and the BBQ, and not far to the fishing platform, it is a great place for family events, especially if taking grandparents. It's not far to walk and suitable for walking frames or wheelchairs.

The area is quite picturesque - so a great place for budding photographers, and if you are quick/clever, there are quite a few birds, that you might capture on your camera.

Can you spot the canoeist?

Don't forget your insect repellant - even in June they are busy and do like to give the odd bite.
