Port Gellibrand (now Williamstown) was the name of Victoria's first settlement & home to the timeball tower, pictured. Originally a light house constructed in 1849 of local stone the tower was later converted to become a navigational aid; its copper ball lowered daily at precisely 1pm. An easy walk from Williamstown station it is a local gem.
