When the household chores are finished on a Saturday, many of us look forward to Sunday to potter in the garden or head to our favourite nursery to pick up a new seasonal plant or mulch and fertiliser. There is nothing so fulfilling than getting your hands into the earth to create beauty about your home.
On Boundary Road, Thornlands you will find family owned Timbara Nursery and Garden Centre. Established in 1981, the nursery has been owned and operated by the Mentz family for 24 years and caters for retail and wholesale customers.
Plenty of parking is available so there is no need to leave your car on the road to walk inside. If you have a big job and don't know how to transport your purchases home, don't worry, Timbara Nursery can deliver to your items right to your door.
Expert advice is given and if you have a garden that just isn't growing to your satisfactory, Timbara Nursery provides soil testing free of charge.
Just bring in a sample and they will advise you on the nutrients your soil needs. Another thing I learnt today was to never water at night as the soil decreases quite a few degrees overnight.
The nursery is very well set out with plants in categories and Timbara also have a speciality section of exquisite garden ornaments created from metal.
I'm quite partial to pigs and a rather large boar caught my eye. In fact, I stood looking at these ornaments for some time as I really liked all of them and the difference in sizes catered for large and small areas of display.
Many a couple were discussing where to place their purchases when they got home just as I too, was thinking the same. Numerous displays of waterfalls trickled with the sound of running water and this created a very relaxed atmosphere as you passed by.
Timbara Nursery has a wide range of gifts as well, so if your friend is not a green finger, there is certainly plenty to choose from to cater for everyone's needs.
Photo frames, gifts with nautical themes, hanging chimes, inspirational plaques or driftwood pieces only touch the surface of what there is on offer. Garden fertilisers, mulch, soil, concrete ornaments and pots of every size and colour are in abundance.
Timbara Nursery is a member of the "Plants Plus" Group, which is a loyalty program available at participating Plant Plus Stores. There a no membership joining fees; however each time you make a purchase you accumulate points and receive a range of benefits which include special discount offers and reward points for every dollar you spend.
For me, today's mission was to purchase another two Cordylines to complete the upgrade of my front garden; however I just couldn't help but pick up an Orange Honeysuckle Creeper for the back fence as well.
