I went to Tiger Lil's on Murray Street a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday and I was impressed.
A large venue, located at 437 Murray Street, it is a bustling place on a Friday night. We arrived at 9pm and it was full of party goers.
The bar seems to go on forever. There is an outdoor area in the front and along the side of the building and a semi terrance which leads onto another bar and dance floor. There are also private booths which you can rent out. It is a good venue for both small and large functions.
The bouncers are very strict. They check everyone's ID before allowing anyone to enter. If you are not from Australia, you will need to bring your passport as they do not accept international drivers licence, only Australian ones. Also, make sure you are not wearing any "thongs" or scruffy shoes and/or shorts, otherwise you will not be let in.
The only bad thing I have to mention is they do not sell pints, only skooners at the rear bar and the music could do with having a real DJ. The music was good, there was R&B and chart songs, but it wasn't clear as it seemed to be played on a sound system behind the walls.
The decor in Tiger Lil's as the name suggested is Asian inspired. There are a lot Buddha statues, bamboo shoots and loads of different coloured lanterns which are on the ceiling throughout the bar. It is open till 2:00 am on Friday and Saturday nights and midnight Tuesday through to Thursday.
Tiger Lil's is also a restaurant and serves a variety of Asian foods. I did not have the chance to eat as we came here after dinner, but next time I will make sure I come early and grab myself some Asian food.
