While many people probably go to Dreamworld for the thrills and adrenaline-packed action on offer from "The Big 9" rides and attractions, there is also another kind of thrill - Tiger Island!
Tiger Island
Tiger Island - Majestic Cats

If you grew up on David Attenborough documentaries, The World Around Us or just can't get enough of National Geographic and The Discovery Channel then chances are you will get an absolute buzz from the special experiences that Tiger Island has to offer.

Most visitors will be content in taking a selfie or happy snaps whilst watching one of the tiger behavioural shows. Be amazed by the way these apex predators interact with the tiger handlers whilst "performing" a number of behaviours such as climbing, jumping and feeding. These huge cats weigh anything from 150kg plus when fully grown so when you see them literally standing up on their hind legs and leaning a massive front paw on their handler while casually downing a bottle of milk you certainly can appreciate the immense power of these animals and just how small we are in comparison!

Now while the behavioural shows are lovely to watch, unless you have a decent zoom on your smart phone or even better with a DSLR you aren't exactly going to get a really close look at these fascinating creatures. So if you're feeling a little more adventurous,

Dreamworld has 3 different options available to you for an up close experience with their tigers:

Option 1 - Tiger Walk
Join the handlers for an early morning walk over an hour. This experience is available 5 days per week and costs $695.00 for a group of up to 4 people. Let's face it, this option may be quite cost-prohibitive to many people as this is in addition to your entry fees (although you can get a 50% discount on your entry fee if you book the Tiger Walk experience).

Option 2 - Tiger Photo
Spend 15 minutes patting (yes - you can actually pat the tiger) the tiger and posing for photos while chatting with the handlers. Prices start at $345 for 1 person or $395 for 2 people. Dreamworld entry is included for this price.

Option 3 - Tiger Feeding
This is by far the most cost-effective Tiger Experience that Dreamworld has to offer. For a start, the cost is just $55 per person with a maximum of 6 people per session (Sessions run at 2.30pm each day). This activity is restricted to 13 years plus and children 13 to 15 years must be accompanied by a paying adult. You will receive a generous 15 minutes experience feeding a tiger (the feeding is done with tongs so don't worry there is no chance of losing a finger unless you want to stick it through the fence!), and chatting to the handler.

The handler will be more than happy to answer your questions and tell you more about their diets, behaviour and the tiger's personality. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture the experience and a 6 inch by 8 inch photo is included in the price. Additional photos are available for purchase from the Kodak Shop.

There are no restrictions on taking your own photos and selfies during the experience. The photographer and handler will be more than happy to take some shots on your own camera of you getting nice and close to the tiger.
Tiger Feeding - Tong Feeding
Face-to-face With "Baru"

Every participant will have ample opportunity to pose for photos and multiple feeds of the tiger. The experience is very safe as you will be on one side of the steel fence and the tiger on the other. By utilising tongs (and not fingers you can be sure that as long as you keep your body from touching the fence then their is no chance of being accidentally bitten or scratched by the tiger in its eagerness to stand up and grab it's food from the tongs. If you've always wanted to get see and interact with a tiger then this very affordable experience is highly recommended. Form a special memory with a tiger today and book in for your tiger feeding experience when you visit Dreamworld!

What amazing experiences. My mum would be in seventh heaven if she got a chance to do any of these things.
