Do you remember the days before Covid-19, when you laboured over the selection of venues to visit with interstate or even overseas guests to allow them to experience an authentic South East Queensland vibe? A place with the 'wow' factor?
Tide on the Jetty, perched over the water at Manly and overlooking the boat harbour, fits that bill. Wide open windows allow the salt air to infiltrate, along with the sound of boats, seagulls and the occasional pelican.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, this cafe/wine/bar is one popular spot for breakfast, coffee and cake, lunch and dinner. It has a casual seaside feel and but don't expect to find a quiet corner to ruminate because it's one of those places that encourages people to gather and become animated in the joie de vivre.
Tide on the Jetty opens at 8 am seven days a week with a breakfast menu available till 11 am. Monday through to Wednesday they close at 5 pm, though on Thursday through to Sunday they close late.
We visited on a Sunday for lunch. Tip: Bookings are essential because the venue is located on the William Gunn Jetty, literally only metres away from Manly's Sunday Markets.
My Fish and Chips was a decent size feed and I couldn't get through all my meal. Thank goodness The Love of My Life has a hearty appetite as he finished off his Fish Burger and my
leftovers.
As the markets, traffic can be frantic, be aware that the restaurant does have its own parking behind the Manly Pool.
For further information and to view the menu, go

The official address is 1 Wyvernleigh Close, Manly, and you can contact the venue on 07 3396 8962.
I hope it is not too much longer until borders open. The Canberra folk would just love the view!
