Tiaro is a rural town in the locality of Fraser Coast Region that is situated on the Mary River, about 27km south of Maryborough and 227km north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway 27.

Susan J. Bowes[/LINK] wrote on WeekendNotes about Things that you can do at Tiaro . We stopped at on the way to Brisbane and this place is one of those family-friendly parks that are great for stretching one's legs on a long trip. is located at 44 Mayne Street, Tiaro.

When we were there, the council was still building the new pump track. The new pump track will feature a circuit of rollers, banked turns and jumps designed to be ridden by generating momentum by up and down body movements instead of pedalling or pushing. I would like to see and trial this new 37-metre track with skaters, scooters or a BMX. But never mind, our children were still happy playing at the playground there. The playground includes swings, a castle with a climbing frame and a slide and also a couple of seesaws. There is also an outdoor fitness station.

There are some undercover picnic tables, complete with free gas BBQs. On one side of this memorial park, there are plenty of big trees with a rainbow lorikeet squawking and trying to get our attention.

At the top of the park, there is interpretive information about the Mary River (Moonaboola), the Mary River Turtle, and the landscape around Tiaro that is worth a sticky beak.

Plenty of parking areas, including for caravans or a motorhome. There is also a public toilet and a tap with a bowl underneath for your thirsty fur babies.
