Throw a Spa Party

There's nothing like a day of pampering to relax your mind and body, but a day at a health spa can cost hundreds of dollars. But, with a little bit of planning and know-how, you can easily create your own spa right at home, and invite your friends over to join in the pampering.
The most important thing is to get the ambience right. You're hardly going to feel relaxed with loud noises, bright lights and other distractions. Close all your curtains, light some candles and play some soothing background music to set the mood. If possible, present your guests with a fluffy robe upon entering.
You'll also want to provide some delicious treats to nibble. It's up to you whether you want to try something healthy or would prefer to splurge on something delciously decadent. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Healthy menu:
Fruit platter (chocolate dipping sauce optional!)
Blueberry muffins
Berry soy fruit ice blocks
Carrot and zucchini bread
Eggplant chips
Decadent option:
Cupcakes
Chocolate ganache truffles
Bacon and cheese cobb dip
Fried haloumi cheese fingers
Serve with homemade juice combos (just blend together fruit and ice) or smoothies (add milk and honey.)
And finally, you can't have a home spa without spa treatments. You can purchase masks and conditioners from stores like Priceline and The Body Shop but if you really want to cut your costs, why not try making them yourself? Most of the ingredients you can find in your cupboards, or can be purchased cheaply at any supermarket (but, unlike store bought treatments, as many of the ingredients are perishable they will only keep for a couple of days.)
You should start with a hair treatment, as you will need to leave this in for about half an hour. To make, mash one avocado and slowly add coconut milk until the mixture reaches the consistency of hair conditioner. If you have frizzy hair, add 1/4 cup of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil; for oily hair, try 1/4 cup dried rosemary. Massage into hair and cover with a warm towel.
While you are waiting, you can treat yourself to a facial, manicure and pedicure.
Apple Cucumber Facial Mask (to soothe irritated skin)
Combine 1/2 peeled cucumber, 1 egg white, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice, 1 slice of peeled apple and several mint leaves in a food processor. Add one drop of lime essential oil, mix well and refridgerate for at least ten minutes before using.
Apply a thick layer to your clean face and leave for twenty minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
Coffee body scrub (to remove dead skin and rejuvinate the body)
Mix together two cups of coarsely ground cofffee, 1/2 cup of sea salt and 2 or 3 cups of massage oil.
Rub mixture into bare skin using wide, circular motions. Shower to remove.
Cuticle softener
Mix together one teaspoon of olive oil and one teaspoon of vitamin E oil.
Massage into nails and cuticles.
Strawberry hand and foot exfoliant
Mix together 8 to 10 strawberries, 2 tablespoons of apricot or olive oil and 1 tablespoon of coarse salt until the mixture forms a paste.
Massage into hands and feet. Rinse off, dry feet and hands thoroughly and decorate nails with polish, stickers, glitter, etc.
A do-it-yourself home spa is much more intimate and provides with the same benefits as a professional spa with one major bonus - you shouldn't have to break a hundred dollar bill.
