If you enjoy a fashion bargain, you'd better mark Sunday 17 May in your diary, as Westfield Southland once again hosts the ever popular Thrifty Fashionista Market that has now become a firm favorite for stylish shoppers on a budget.

The pre-loved pop-up market, now in its third season, invites Melbourne fashion lovers to clear out their wardrobes and sell their recycled clothing for cash. There are 15 stalls at the market, with previous stallholders including top Melbourne bloggers, vintage clothing traders alongside everyday folk selling their vintage, designer, pre-loved and quality label pieces.

Having shopped at each of the three markets so far, I can say that the Thrifty Fashionista Market has now become a regular date on my own fashion shopping calender. Prices for clothes, shoes, bags and accessories are more than reasonable for second-hand; I can't say we are talking about a couple of op-shop dollars, but you will find quality pieces for a very fair price, mostly labeled and well presented. Don't be shy of a little haggle, most people do, but do be reasonable.

An initiative to shop at the Thrifty Fashionista Market, which will be carried forward to the next event, is a $10 Westfield Southland voucher to spend within the shopping centre, when $50 or more is spent. You don't have to spend $50 on one stall, you can ask each stallholder to provide a receipt no matter how small, and if the total reaches $50 or more, you can take it to the market's front desk to claim your $10 Westfield voucher.

On my last Thrifty Fashionista visit, I bagged some bargains, going home with a vintage frock, a tunic, a vintage JAG bag and a pair of shoes for a total of $60. I then used my $10 Westfield Southland voucher in a nearby cafeteria.

Bear in mind that the market is positioned in an open space next to the shopping centre's stage, so there are not too many changing rooms to try on clothes, however, there are two more than adequate curtained spaces that make-do should you need.

Entry into Thrifty Fashionista Market is free, and being positioned inside one of Melbourne's most popular suburban shopping centre's, patrons can enjoy a bargain hunt in the comfort of heat and shelter.

Should you wish to apply to become a stallholder at the next market, you can fill out the online form here . Stalls are $75, with Westfield Southland supplying all signage.

Pop down to the next Thrifty Fashionista Market on Sunday 17 May from 10:00am – 3:00pm, and grab yourself a fashion bargain.
