Do want to get the first tickets to the Brisbane Festival?
The Brisbane Festival is back again this September and you can buy tickets for some of the events already. The program is packed with over seventy first class performances. The full program will be released in late June but it's not too early to sign up for the newsletter.
As a special sneak peek, Artistic Director David Berthold has pre-released the details of three shows at QPAC's Playhouse, including two Australian premieres exclusive to the Brisbane Festival.
En, avant marche! is a fusion of music, dance, theatre and opera, including a full scale brass band. With over thirty performers on stage, the show celebrates the marching band community and one of its members, a larger-than-life trombonist coming to terms with his last days. It will be held from the 3rd to the 7th of September 2016.
La Verità is a dream-like circus from the people who put together Cirque du Soeil's Corteo. With a nod to Salvador Dali, there will be multitalented artists playing instruments, singing, dancing and clowning around. You'll be amazed at the spectacular show by Daniele Finzi Pasca, whose previous work includes an Olympic Closing Ceremony. It will be held from the 20th to the 24th of September.
In honour of the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare's death, a comic adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream will feature as part of the festival's program. There will be superheroes, lots of jokes and laughs and one epic food fight. Tickets are available for the 9th to the 17th of September.
I'm looking forward to the contemporary ballet of Snow White with exquisite costumes from Jean Paul Gaultier. This Australian première is exclusive to Brisbane.
