When my little girl was born I named her Emilia. I felt it was a name with sufficient dignity to be accompanied by a title such as Prime Minister, Justice or even Doctor. No pressure, really, but I wanted to cover all eventualities, just in case.

I needn't have worried. That's not the way my girl rolls. She's all about the wow factor and now she's found heaven.

Three Little Girls and a Boy Named Ted in Oxford St, Bulimba is a shop that could have spilt straight out of the pages of Madeline. It is oh so chic but so much fun too. Charmaine McDonald, the shop's owner, has more than a little experience selecting clothes for children, after all, she named her shop after her own four.

The children's boutique is a haven of calm with clothes displayed on racks and tables cleverly positioned so that strollers won't knock them over. Whilst items are beautifully merchandised, there is no sense that they musn't be touched but if you're worried, Charmaine has thoughtfully provided toys to occupy your little one so that you can get on with the serious business of choosing some of the most stylish children's clothes to be found in Brisbane.

It is fair to say that we're not talking every day, kindy clothes here. There are plenty of good quality tee shirts and shorts but the shop's signature style is something a little bit special. Brands include: Fred Bare, Willow & Finn, Mini Metalicus and Cocoon Clothing to name a few. Emilia can't walk past the swimwear without gasps of adoration and is currently sporting a rather fetching set from Babes In the Shade although she's got her eye on a purple frilly number from Seafolly next.

As the name suggests, the shop is not all about girls. I've always struggled to find little boys clothes that are more than just khaki shorts and tee shirts. You will find plenty of cool, funky colours on the boys' rails too. My son loves his Tiger Joe rashie and boardies and I have to say, I do too.
