Take a fun-filled ride into the heart of the roaring twenties with The Production Company's
Throughly Modern Millie. It will be staged at
Arts Centre Melbourne from 3 to 11 August, 2019.
Throughly Modern Millie is based on the 1967 film of the same name, which itself was based on the British musical
Chrysanthemum, which opened in London in 1956. It tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love. She soon begins to take delight in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China.
Starring in the lead role as Millie is Annie Aitken. Marina Prior is Mrs Meers with Claire Lyon performing the role of Dorothy Brown.
The other main cast includes Queenie van de Zandt as Muzzy Van Hossmere, Adam Jon Fiorentino as Trevor Graydon, Nigel Huckle as Jimmy Smith, Keith Brockett as Ching Ho, Jonathan Chan as Bun Foo and Angela Scundi as Miss Flannery.
Completing the cast are Luke Alleva, Mia Dabkowski-Chandler Nadia Coote, Emily Corkeron, Andrew Coshan, Sage Douglas, Mackenzie Dunn, Kala Gare, Josh Gates, Chloe Honig, Rubin Matters, Suzie Melloy, Matthew Prime, Robbie Smith, Suzanne Steele, Angelina Thomson, Rhys Velasquez and Romy Vuksan.
