A romantic kissing spot with perfect harbour views
A romantic kissing spot with perfect harbour view

I came across this beautiful harbourside park when I was waiting for the ferry at Balmain. It is located just beside the Wharf Terminal. It was such a surprise discovery for me on the day, a little idyllic park with breathtaking harbor views, no matter which corner you turn, it is picture perfect, especially on a sunny and clear sky day.

The park has a little round shape flower garden, with a seat placed right in the middle of the walking path. It was in full blossom at this time of the year. At the front part of the park, seawall seatings are installed for your convenience to contemplate the views. At the far end of the park, there is a little playground for kids and the spacious open grassy area is ideal for a picnic or a yoga stretch.

Kids playground and family picnic spot

The best part is the picnic table and bench, just like a VIP guest area, a perfect spot to view the harbor bridge, it welcomes you to have a seat with a chess game or surprise someone special with a romantic kiss. I think Thornton Park is such a wonderful introduction for the visitors to the Balmain suburb; it has captured the essence of its culture, arty, cozy and romantic.

Dogs on leash are permitted in the park and toilets can be found at the Balmain Wharf Terminal. Next time while you are waiting for the ferry, don't forget to pamper yourself or someone special with a lovely cozy time at Thornton Park.
